You'll want a heart rate monitor, preferably one with a chest strap for accuracy, that also takes your weight, age, and gender. That will give you the best bang for your buck; you don't need one of the "all day wear" kinds.

I'm looking to buy a device that calculates the amount of calories burned while I'm doing fitness tapes at home. I'm presuming that they'll calculate calories burned based on HR and some other factors. My Mom has a Garmin but it only calculates calories burned based on speed and distance. I really like doing fitness tapes at home but have a really hard time judging the amount of calories I burn. Does anyone have a device that works good for this situation?
