Levothyroxine and sleep. I've been diagnosed hypothyroid for more than 6 years. I apparently have a severe Vitamin D deficiency, which has started me on taking vitamins everyday (multivitamin and magnesium, along with my prescribed high doses of D.)

I didn't take vitamins so much before because they have to be taken at least 4 hours after the levothyroxine. Now I carry them with me and take them at lunch or dinner.

Just taking my thyroid medication--I didn't know there was anything else I could do.

I did my best today, tomorrow I will do even better.

I just went for my annual exam and I almost hope mine comes back low. It would certainly explain some things! And my sister has hypothyroidism, so genetically it's possible. Glad to know there are some natural things that can be done in addition to medicine.

I also take my levothyroxome each day (100 mcg. q day) along with a multivitamine. And of course, I try to eat a well-balanced diet and exercise regularly.

Like a previous poster, I also had some trouble with my physician -- who was content to leave my T3 at "borderline" levels. I finally had a heart-to-heart talk with her and insisted that she pay more attention to my symptoms and not just treat my numbers. She upped my dose last December (because of my insistence) and I have felt better all year -- and have lost 20 pounds since then.

Last year, I lost 15 pounds in the first half of the year when my T3 level was good ... but gained it all back in the 2nd half of the year when my T3 levels went up a bit. That is the 4th time that has happened and I live in fear of it happening again.

I eat seaweed and Brazil nuts. Seaweed is high in iodine and Brazil nuts are high in selenium. Also tuna and shiiatake mushrooms are natural sources of that essential mineral.

Give up everything you love, and everything that tastes good = weight loss! Simple as that!

a good doctor will work with you if you are having low thyroid symptoms. (my first one would only look at blood work and totally dismissed my on going symptoms)

I didn't realize that supplements could boost your thyroid function. I'll have to do some research on it.

Well I guess the first thing I would do would be to determine if I had the symptoms of low thyroxine levels. Then I would talk to my doctor, maybe see an endocrinologist if necessary. I wouldn't just start taking supplements without really knowing what was really going on.

Have done some research and am going to try boosting thyroid function by taking a combination of selenium, iodine and zinc.
