So many things have become much easier, but the most important thing to me is portion control. I have gotten much better at going to functions and such and just taking a couple bites of each dish. Also, when eating even my favorite dishes, I just take one small plate and never go back for seconds.

The first time I noticed that I was in better shape was when I had to buy new shoes. I bought a pair of hiking boots. Usually I never buy shoes with laces, only slip on shoes because tying them was a chore. Now tying my shoes does not even enter my mind.

likewise, we fill an important gap for one another here on SP, guys are taking on themselves and their health all around us and yet we often do it alone, thanks for being so active on the boards

So lucky that my friends didn't smoke in Jr. High, otherwise I would probably have done that.

I think quitting smoking is HUGE!

You remind me how much we take for granted walking up stairs and breathing. So many are not taking on their healthy and suffering.

I don't have anything good to add right now, but I just wanted to say that all of your responses have been really inspiring.

I went to a convert at an outdoor venue last weekend. It involved a lot of walking and climbing to and from. Before this would have exhausted me.

I really like what you wrote, it's amazing how the simple things (some call them the simple pleasures) are so powerful! Thanks for sharing.

Isn't it great how simple everyday things get easier, which just builds confidence for other things. Awesome!

Good question...
For me, walking - I can go for hours no problem; sex has become easier for both my partner and I emoticon ; work around the house - lots more energy to get stuff done; general energy levels for everything, on the days after a bad sleep, I am able to make it through the day and go to bed at a normal time, whereas before I would have a nap after coming home from work.

Stretching, particularly a 10 minute yoga routine my sister-in-law taught me, which is also helping with flexibility and balance with martial arts.

I found another: trampoline (with my kids on that thing for 25 minutes last night, so much fun, they had me doing flips, although I could feel my brain bouncing around in my skull).

Running (did a 4 mile trail run with my wife this week), WAY easier than before I was on SP (taking my healthy seriously and consistently).
