I've taken to having one drink per week now. I find it's helped me control my weight and I look forward to it. Friday before dinner is when I celebrate with this. Usually a vodka tonic.

I just make sure to give myself the calories to have a glass of wine or two if I have a nice bottle to open. Otherwise I stick to Gin and diet Tonic with lime.

FYI...just read a SP Health News article that says diet sodas used as mixers may intensify the alcohol. Something about calories slowing down the alcohol....
Anyway, be wary using diet pop as a mixer!

Fergie has a skinny version of vodka on the market it called Voli. I have nevr tried it...but I saw her on Rachel Ray mixing up drinks and they looked pretty good.

I often use a little juice for the desire sweetness. Most cocktails I used to find overcloying anyway. I have also noticed that making them less sweet with Setltzer and usuing less of the sweetened mixers, helps me to drink them slower so I take in less over the course of a scoial event.

Flavored seltzer water has become my substitute for Soda in cocktails.

I'm not a huge fan of most flavored vokdas, so I've been doing plain vodka, club soda and a splash of fruit juice. Or replace the juice with some crystal light powder.

I used to love drinking caesars (I'm Canadian) about once a week, but the sodium in them is insane. Since starting healthy eating, I like to stick to white wine, and sometimes I'll get some champagne and add a splash of orange juice.

Does anyone have any recipes or tips for making cocktails that are... better than others? I know I don't want to cut drinking out of my diet, but I would like to try and be responsible.
