I have one of the LifeFitness home models -- got mine refurbished back in 2007. Takes a licking and keeps on ticking!

Handled both of us running on inclines when we were seriously overweight, plus has been through a few tough moves. We just do yearly maintenance on it, and it runs like a dream (knocks on wood)...

Yes it was more expensive in the short run, but we use it a lot, and hope to have it a good long time, so we thought of it as an investment. So far, so good.

I am on my second Pro-From treadmill, purchased at Sports Authority. My first one lasted about 10 years.

I got my proform at Sears in January several years ago when they have their sale. I love it! It sure does kick my butt when I am using it. I do know that I have in the past watched HSN the shopping channel and they sell a lot of them. I have had real good success with my proform.

I've had my treadmill for almost as long - maybe 13/14 years? It's a Pro-Form Walkfit that folds to take up less floor space. It's very solid, nonetheless, and has adjustable incline, which is important for me.

We bought ours at Sears - it was on sale in early January and fairly reasonably priced. I don't know how their selection is these days, however. I'd suggest checking your local phone book for exercise equipment stores and trying several makes and models before you buy. This is, however, a good time of the year to do so, as most companies have major sales on such equipment around the beginning of the year.

Just trying to help...

You may want to go to your local fitness equipment store for a test drive if anyone makes a suggestion as to what treadmills they like. Sine the decking and the functioning of the belts vary widely, what one person likes another may find too hard or too cushioned.

I have done that..As a matter of fact I looked into many different brands and it seems that some are better than others but they all have their faults. That is why I am asking, to see what other sparkers are using and what they think.

BRIANNADUNN,

Just a suggestion, but you may want to check out Consumer's Reports. They review many products, including treadmills, bikes and ellipticals.

I hope this helps!

My lifecore treadmill that has been in the family for almost 15 yrs gave up and no longer works and I switched to a Elliptical but I really want to get a treadmill. I can't afford to buy something that is thousands of dollars but if anyone has any suggestions on a good treadmill, that is reasonably priced, I would love to hear from you. What kind do you use? Where is the best place to buy?
