I use Runkeeper and love it. It's a free app for either Android or iPhone, and tracks your route, your pace, your miles covered, etc. You can set goals for yourself, too, which is awesome.

I use mapmyrun.com to measure my distances when I walk/run. I just make sure to start and end my run/walk at a place that is easy to see on a map.

I have an omron pedometer that I really like. It's not the MOST accurate thing out there but I like it b/c it gives me a rough idea of how many steps I've taken and does keep me paying attention to how much I'm moving throughout the day

Nike+ Running smartphone app with GPS. use it to measure your distance and time. It keeps a record of your time and distance, and you can calculate your progress! It is amazingly accurate.
Alternative; Emron makes a great pedometer for about $20, put it in your pocket and go!

I walk for 30 minutes each time I go walking and I've noticed I have been walking a little further each week but I would like to know exactly how many feet or miles I am actually progressing by each week. So what do you think the best tool for me to use is?
