I'm training for a half marathon, so this is used for running... I need upbeat music to keep me going, and here's some that I notice when they come on, get me more fired up:
Ke$sha - We R who we R (I normally don't like this song but for some reason the beat really gets me going!)
fun. - Some Nights
Beyonce, Jay-Z - Crazy in Love
Snow Patrol - It's Beginning to Get to Me
Many Rihanna songs :)

It depends on what I'm doing. For cardio like running I like peppy music like Cascada, Black Eyed Peas, Avicii, Fat Boy Slim, etc. For hooping I like medium tempo music with a sensual or Bollywood bent (like Nelly Furtado's Promiscuous or Beyonce's Baby Boy). For weights I like rock or hard alternative music, like Aerosmith and Nine Inch Nails. For walking I like happy music of all genres and tempos (A little Jason Mraz, Elvis, Journey, Taylor Swift, Temptations, you name it). I have a REALLY HARD time working out without music, though.

I love metal music anything that I can rock out and headbang too gets me going. My work out play list consists of two amazing bands

Five Finger Death Punch is the one that I play during my cardio and sauna time, I listen to Slayer for my weight training and cool down times

I just put together a playlist for my 5K on Saturday. I actually have 4 running playlists [by theme/genre] and this is the best of the songs that I enjoy running to.

Scarlet Division - Sundial
Frank Turner - Try This at Home
Katrina & The Waves - Walking on Sunshine
Dropkick Murphys - The Warrior's Code
I Fight Dragons - The Geeks Will Inherit the Earth
Diagon Alley - Leaky Cauldron
Stray Cats - Rock This Town
Frank Turner - If Ever I Stray
Rise Against - Ready to Fall
Nerf Herder - Buffy the Vampire Slayer theme
The Mudbloods - Happy Ending

I know, a lot of it's obscure music but I swear it's really great for running!

Thanks for all these great music ideas! I'm constantly looking for music with 145-165 bpm and it's been hard to find new music with that tempo. Currently I'm listening to:

Help Me Somebody by Brian Eno and David Byrne
Till the World Ends by Britney Spears
Beautiful Day by U2
Perfect Day by Hoku
Kernkraft 400 by Zombie Nation
Dynamite by Taio Cruz
Party Rock Anthem by LMFAO
Moves Like Jagger by Maroon 5

Nine Inch Nails always has a great beat to keep me moving. Closer and Capital G are perfect examples.

I love Stronger by Kanye West and currently Till I Collapse by Eminem can always get me going. I listen to a lot of hip hop and rap artists when I am working out, but only when I am working out. There is something about the music that puts me in the mood to get stronger and kick butt.

What's funny is Jack Johnson is my goto music artist, but his music doesn't quite get me in the GET UP and go mood.. it puts me in the relax and do nothing mood lol..

SO I kind of step outside my zone and listen to things like

Stacy's Mom Has Got it Goin On...
Avril Lavigne has a ton of hyper music(My Happy Ending/Girlfriend)
I like to listen to LOUD HAPPY music..
I really like when a song starts slow then gets really loud bc I'll start walking on the slower parts the RUN as fast as I can on the loud parts.

Ok, I'm a little weird. emoticon

My exercise is walking, so I try to walk to the beat of music. Some upbeat tunes that get me to a 15-min mile...

"My Body" - Young the Giant
"Shake It" - Anane (great Zumba or dancing around the house song!)
"Runaway Baby" - Bruno Mars
"Shakin' That [Thing]" - Groove Armada
"Baby" - Justin Bieber (Seriously! It's a great beat!) {:-D

I have a lot of R&B and hip hop on my playlist: Jamiroquai, LL Cool J, Fort Minor, Jill Scott, EWF, The Temptations, Parliament, etc.

However, my current workout program doesn't really have me listening to a lot of music, since I prefer to listen to the sounds of my neighborhood when I run (I live near a nature preserve, so there's a TON of birds who like to sing in the early morning!), and my other main cardio activity is swimming.

I have a bunch of songs, but I have a particular set that is my dig down deep list.

Rollin in the Deep - Adele
Amazing- Kayne West
Pump It - Black Eyed Peas (the radio version)
Citizen/Soldier - Three Doors Down
March of Cambreath - Heather Alexander
Dynamite - Taio Cruz
Wavin' Flag - K'naan
Wavin' Flag - Champs United (The Coca-Cola theme for the 2010 World Cup)
Drummer Boy - Debi Nova
We Live - Superchick
Gravity Hurts - Cryoshell (this was music from a Bionicle movie of all things)

Most of these have some kind of a get it done emotional jolt for me.

I've been known to do an entire round of a half dozen sets just restarting Rolling in the Deep over and over.

Don't judge, but I'll admit to running this morning while listening to Call Me Maybe. A few of my work out songs (and guilty pleasures) are Michael Jackson, Beyonce, Justin Timberlake, Katy Perry, Black Eyed Peas. My husband tease me unmercifully, but whatever keeps you moving.

As the title implies, what does everyone listen to while they work out? Or do you workout to music at all?

Currently I listen to Tool, during workouts, a total throwback to my "teenage angst" days, but something about the lead singer's voice and the heavy music makes me feel compelled to hurt myself, and push through my workouts.
