I either read, go for a walk, hula hoop, have a cup of tea, or just lay down for a few minutes with my headphones in while I mentally straighten things out.

If it's time-related stress, I make a to-do list to keep me focused and see that I'm accomplishing something when I check off completed items. If I just need to get my mind off things and stop worrying, I get engrossed in a good book!

My way of dealing with stress is dealing with the problems that cause the stress.. Mindless eating gives a moment pleasure then one has the guilt of the cheat and the problems are still there..

I had to hack away one by one my problems..

1. get rid of the stupid boyfriend, whom didn't support me.
2. find a cheaper place to live
-which helped erase paying for months bus card
-removed the need to have a washing machine when there is one in my new apartment complex
-gave less hugh electricity bills going over to natural gas
-live closer to a cheaper 24 hour gym
-more exercise biking to and from work
3. being closer to where everything happens so I am not isolated out in the country..

Thats what I do to deal with stress- my plan has been shaping up for over 1 year.. Now alot of my stresses are gone = a happier me.

All of us have different ways of dealing with stress. The most important thing is to recognize first signs and do something about it.

I consider myself quite strong person. Just before Christmas i was studying for my exam, working full time, looking after my baby and my hubby. The way i look at it - you just have to get on with it. In my mind i was cooing fine. However my body was telling another story. I developed insomnia ( apparently due to stress) and even i was eating lots of fruits and veggies quite often i felt constipated. Sorry to mention this last bit.

Another sign stress i had this week when my eye started to twitch which scared me to death
I do admit that in last 2 months my life was very hectic. Starting new role, working stupid hours as i had to bring my laptop home and work few more hours after i put my baby to bed. My sleeping pattern wasn't the best as i kept my exercising to my usual routine which is 6 times a week.

What i learn from this that sometimes i have to take it easy. Have some rest. And listen to my body even if my mind says i am doing great.

I pray to God and give Him thanks and praise. He promised to give me peace that surpasses all understanding and when I take my troubles to Him He is faithful to get me through whatever life is throwing at me. Our God is an awesome God!

Going for a run or playing sports (volleyball, basketball, football, softball, etc.)...while playing sports the ball is my stress factor and when I hit the volleyball with everything that I have then I feel much better. After playing then I would go back and revisit the situation/whatever I was stressing about. Taking a step back is key...never run away.

I found I was a lot more able to cope with stress when I took time to figure out the source of it, rather then just running around frantic. Basically, I divide the things that cause me stress into categories:

-"Things I can't do anything about": This is stuff like "my boss won't give me the information I need to do a project" or "my colleague is a snarky a-hole." I try to let this stuff go, because there's no changing the absent-minded boss or the snarky colleague.

-"Things I can't do anything about right now": This includes mostly long-term issues, like my financial circumstances, or my weight (I can't magically drop 20 lbs. before tomorrow, you know?). To deal with this stuff, I set up a long-term plan (make a budget, re-commit to tracking on Spark, set aside set times to go to the gym, etc.).

-"Things I can fix right now": This is anything I can take immediate action on. With this stuff, I make immediate plans to deal with these things ASAP.

Having a plan to deal with the various things that are bothering me tends to take away my stress. If I have a plan in place, I can just trust that the plan's going to work, and then I don't have to stress out, you know?

So today I had a very stressful day. And what did I do? I handled it in the worst possible way... I ate like a pig. Usually I handle my stress by exercising, but I have to work from 8-5 and happened to be stressed out AT work. So what's YOUR way of dealing with stress when the gym is not an option?
