I agree with EVERYONE! Natural is the way to go...save your money! I've tried plenty of 'supplements' that didn't do a thing! I thought they did but I also changed my eating habits and made sure I got in at least 4 days of exercise in a week. Eating more fruits and vegetables in every meal and getting in a good workout will help the weight come off and it's something you can keep up with. When you think of spending money on supplements AND nutritious food, then you could have just spent ALL of the money on the food! Good luck all!

I've used a product once, (Yes, it's true. I've been young, misguided and desperate..) The only object in my possession losing weight was my wallet..
I remember it was supposedly made from "white bean fiber extract" (sounds like yours!) and supposedly would lower my blood-sugar, in turn lowering insulin production and fat-storage. All presented with references to actual "research" (Very quasi-sciency!). They even had the obligatory "dr" in a lab-robe on the glossy cover.. Steer clear.
If you want to lower insulin production, I'm willing to bet you would be better off replacing your refined/simple carbohydrates with actual beans. It would be cheaper, tastier and probably way more effective.

Please remember that just because the supplement may say that it is from natural sources, doesn't mean that it is safe. Many a person has suffered serious consequences as a result. Supplements aren't monitored in a lot of countries, and I gather the US fits into this category.
I'm eating clean, exercising and using all natural supplements. I wouldn't fool around with most of the supplements on the market.

I do take some energy enhancing supplements(pre workout) to help me through my intense workouts. But I don't take things that say the detour eating or help me lose weight. I know that less food, more exercise does that very thing, NATURALLY. I have bought somethings(and my wife has bought some things) that were suppose to help her loose weight, etc. and they have never worked. But they sure are expensive. So just do it right and you'll do great. keep the faith
If there were a magic pill that was safe and could make you lose weight, there wouldn't be an obesity epidemic and it would be available via prescription (where a pharmacist would control exactly what goes in to it). Supplements are not controlled in this manner.
I think you already know that there is no quick fix, but I promise you that doing it the long and slow way is rewarding when you see your hard work pay off. Plus it actually WORKS.

"Natural" is a meaningless marketing term that doesn't mean anything, and doesn't confer some benefit to the products which wear it like a cheap hooker's short skirt.
Snake venom's natural. You won't catch me drinking that.
lBlocking fat absorption isn't a good thing, anyway; fat doesn't make you fat. And if you block somethign you eat, guess where it goes?
Right in the toilet. Those drugs that actually DO what they claim (Like Alli)? Often cause anal leakage and painful diarrhea.
Don't listen to advice from Dr. Oz. This article is long, but if you have ever trusted him, you need to read it to understand why that's not a good thing.
I have to agree with Anarie. I have actually taken the Garcinia Cambogia extract and it did absolutely nothing for me. No weight loss, no increased energy, no suppressed appetite. NADA! My suggestion: save your money. Go for an extra walk/hike, lift some weights and try to stay within your calorie index. Those things are free and they actually work.

Just eat real foods, especially micronutrients in fruits and veggies....and daily vitamins and plenty of water and regular exercise!!!
Ephedra is a natural plant extract, too. It grows wild all over the place where I live. The fact that it's a natural plant extract doesn't make it safe; cyanide and ricin are also natural plant extracts.
Chitosan (which comes from the shells of shrimp and crustaceans, so it's an allergy risk) and Garcinia cambogia actually don't block fat absorption. It's just not true. If you listen carefully to Oz, he almost always says "This is really promising!" rather than actually saying it works. Or he lets the guests (who are lying because they sell it) say that it really works and he doesn't contradict them. Chitosan is actually starting to look like a fabulous replacement for pesticides and fungicides on plants, it may help prevent blood disorders in dialysis patients, and it increases absorption of Vitamin K (which sounds good but can actually be very dangerous) but there's no evidence that it does anything at all for weight loss. www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/10369493 Garcinia cambogia doesn't work, either: www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/9820262
As for the bean extract, carbohydrates don't "turn into fat." Any excess calories you eat may be stored in the body as fat, but your body makes that fat and no supplement can stop it. I think probably the claim they make is that the extract "blocks absorption of carbs," but that's not really true, either. Fiber does that a little, though, so actually *eating* white beans as part of your meals would be a much better way to lose weight! Or black beans, or red beans. They have all kinds of health benefits as well as making weight loss a little easier for most people.
And that's the way it goes with most things that are sold as "natural supplements." If you eat the actual plant, you'll get the "extracts," so if those extracts work, food is a better way to get them than dehydrated in a capsule. And if those extracts don't work, if you eat the food, you get other nutrients from it and don't have to buy other groceries, so you're not wasting your money.
My purpose is to develop a menu plan I can use for the rest of my life, rather than rely on a bottle of whatever it is - being touted by someone who would likely never use it themselves, but is being paid to promote it to the vulnerable and sometimes desperate.

I haven't used them, and nor would I be tempted to.
Weight-loss mostly comes down to good, balanced nutrition in a healthy calorie range, and getting exercise in. Sometimes medication and/or illness makes it more difficult to lose but when that occurs, we need to be even more vigilant.
Dr Oz might be a very good Cardiologist, but he is also very good a lining his own pocket, and at the expense of moral ethics. He will tout whatever anyone pays him to tout.
A lot of supplements are not from reliably safe sources so that is a very good reason to give them a miss. Also, a lot are not safe to take with some medications we may be on, or with certain health conditions. I know my Dietitian suggested one supplement but I had to talk with my Dr about it. He said "no" - I was on two medications - one was a baby dose of Aspirin - a very common medication.
Some of the medications (properly tested and prescribed by a Dr) can cause lots of problems - things like embarrassing 'bathroom' moments - but at least you would be monitored by your Dr and be given qualified advice and support.
What do you think of weight loss supplements? I know stuff like ephedra is bad but I've heard about natural ones on Dr. Oz that supposedly work and are safe. For example Chitosan and Garcinia Cambogia are natural extracts from plants/fruits that help block the absorption of fat. Another one is white bean extract that helps block carbohydrates from turning into fat. What do you think of these products if you've used them?
