Good morning Journal,
How are you? I had a good night sleep which is always important for weight loss. I got up though feeling a bit sluggish but then it improved once I did my weight training session at the gym. I did 40 mins cardio and also worked my biceps, thighs, back and chest, had a good one. I have weigh in on Monday with my SP friends and then weigh in with my trainer on August 12 to see if I lost inches from anywhere. I really hope my momentum keeps up. I am really feeling improved, I feel stronger when I am doing my cardio, my clothes are looser but I need to get past the pain when I am weight training. I find as I start to burn I want to stop. My trainer says I need to keep going and work through the burn, that is the only way! How are you all doing? Send me a note, let me know,

Hi all,
How are we this morning? I am good happy to be alive, thank God. I power walked this morning for 45 mins and did some stretching. I then had breakfast. I am making it a point to read something inspirational every day and this morning I read the editorial from Susan Taylor in the magazine Essence. Her editorial is called In the Spirit. I love it and I read the book! She was saying that we have to be true to who we are and try not to be what we are not. She said that true freedom comes from letting go and always feeling we have to submit to norms. We have to accept who we are and love ourslves, our bodies, our minds, our looks, everything.
I totally agree but I find this is something I find hard to do sometimes but she placed it in perspective. i find that I am alwyas trying to behave as society would expect and not being myself. Sometimes I even feel as if I should be more like this person or that person, why cant I do this or that? But I have to realise that I am only me and I have to accept myself, my idiosyncracies, and faults and weaknesses. If I am a sensitive person, so be it, if I am quite, so be it, that is who I am, I can look to improve myself and my weaknesses but I cannot change who I am. I also have to love the skin I am in!!!!I love that statement. I tend to cry down myself and wish I had skin and a body like others, I also sometimes wish I was not soo tall but this is something that I cannot change so no sense mulling over it, tall is beautiful too and once I dresss and carry myself well, I will see that tall is good too!
Oh I could go on, send me a post tell me what u think.

Ok here is my food eaten today July 20, 2006:

It takes time to change our habits that we've had for so long. I think it is difficult to make it a lifestyle change because we carry not so healthy habits with us for so long and it is hard to ditch them. Our society is also just used to dieting off and on which doesn't help the matter. Just keep pushing forward - you can do this!!

"Obstacles don't have to stop you. If you run into a wall, don't turn around and give up. Figure out how to climb it, go through it, or work around it." - Michael Jordan

I really need to do a self-examination, I think I have been at this weight loss for too long now and it is time to nip it up! I will use this weekend to do some reflection and examination as I will be away from home.
Yesterday I slmped really low with my eating in the afternoon and I still do not understand why. I need to examine this and find out for myself why I overeat and why I resort to my old habits after doing so well with my diet and exercise. Why is it so difficult to make this a lifestyle change? Can anyone tell me?What are some of the issues you are dealing with or finding difficult? I want to be at my goal weight for my pregnancy but at the rate I am going I may mess that up.

Good morning Journal,
how ar eyou? Yesterday for the most part was a good day, I weight trained yesterday which was great and this morning I power walked for 35 mins, that felt good too, I hope the day goes even better than yesterday.
I have started a new feature on this journal in that I am posting my meals on here as well. Feel free to come on especially the SP experts and let me know what u think of my dietary habits. I only managed 6 glasses of water yesterday hope to do better today,

Breakfast-
6:30am-1/2 orange
1 cup lemon & ginger tea
1 croissant with 2 veggie nuggets
1/2 egg white omelette (4 egg whites, skimmed milk, black pepper)
1 glass water

9:30am-1 small apple juice
1 soya protein pattie
1 glass water

12:10pm-1 glass water
steamed carrots and broccoli
2 tsp. light thousand island dressing
2 pieces baked chicken-wing & breast
1 Special K cereal bar

1:16pm- 1 small pk nuts & raisins
2 Special K cereal bars
2 glasses water
(felt very sleepy and was craving these)

3:00pm-Tostito chips (small amount)
Herr's reduced fat chips (small amount)
1 pack of M&M's with nuts
1 glass water
Could anyone explain to me why I ate these? I was doing well but got sleepy, tired and demotivated at work and just reached for them-why? Trying not to beat myself up!
It gets worst-
2 chocolate croissants
1 cup of fanta drink (not good)

Dinner-baked potato chips
baked dolphin
light microwave popcorn (1/2 bag)
1 small glass sprite

9 glasses water, 35 mins power walking!!

M,
Hey there! My day is going pretty good, the city of Seattle has cooled down a bit today (83 degrees) so I feel like I can breathe now. How are you?

The reason I said I'd start the detox after the 4th is because although I am currently watching everything I eat, and making sure I am within normal portions (or what normal should be) I wouldn't want to start a detox before the 4th and then take a day off. I'm just thinking I'd do the detox for a solid week, instead of 2-3 days. Who knows? emoticon

*wondering if I could do the detox with fruits and veggies and still make minimum of 1200 calories*

Just a thought.

Carrie

Hi Carrie,
Morning. How are you? Why do you have to detox after July 4th? forgive my ignorance. I did not exercise yesterday but plan to do so today. How is your day going? Thanks for your comments on my page. I have also added you as a friend to my page.

Journal,
I prayed this morning that today will be a good day, I had a good breakfast and I hope all will go well with me and my diet. help me to be able to exercise this evening. Pour your blessings on SP and its members and help us all in our weight loss goals.

Later,

Michee

Micheee
Right now I am focusing on eating REAL food in correct portions sizes and balancing things appropriately. It seems as if I'm on the right track thus far according to the tracking tools. I am not big on fruit so I eat tons of veggies and try to stick to clean proteins (chicken, turkey, fish). When I do eat fruit it's usually apples, watermelon, or grapefuit but I can't seem to do it on a daily basis...but I'm working on it.

As for the alcohol, I'm not one to rely on substances so there is a good chance that I won't be drink most of the summer months...I'm pretty confident with that. Exercise is helping to keep the stress away, thankfully!

Hope all is going well...I'll have to try a little veggie detox period after the 4th of July passes, that is probably just what my system needs.

I'll check back later
Carrie

Hi Carrie,
Thanks for stopping by, great to meet you!How are you and how is the SP program going for you?
I am ok, to answer you question, I detoxed by snacking only on fruits and drinking lots of water. I had carbs for lunch and then only salad and chicken breast for dinner. i ddi this for 2 days as I had not eaten well a few days before!
Tell me about your program, I was reading your public journals and I see that sometimes when you are stressed, you drink alcohol. When I am stressed, I eat and eat the wrong things so I know where you are coming from, it is something we have to overcome,

Journal,
This weekend has been ok, I went to the cinema last nite and snacked on popcorn and M&M's . Not the best choices, but I felt to indulge and treat myself which I did. However, this morning I was back to my real lifestyle of healthy eating. I exercised on Saturday and felt good but that was only one out of the two days I exercised last week. I HAVE to do better this week and beyond for sure!

Bye for now,

Micheee

Hi Miche, you will meet your goal and have some nice before and after pics as well. I'm glad I can help motivate others! As for the dietitian, we do have one on here although I don't think that she is able to see what you need to eat more of. How are your percentages coming out when you track your food? Are they close to the percentages that are recommended? If you are concerned, you might want to post in the diet and nutrition forum - Becky, our resident dietitian, looks at that board - she might give you some input.

You should definitely be proud of yourself, you are doing great!!!

Enjoy the rest of your week! emoticon

Denise,
I checked out your Sparkpage and it is nice, there are some pics of you before and after, oh, I do long to get that stage where I reach my goal weight and can have before and after shots. it is so motivating to see honestly!
Jounal,
I exercised today, I went on a walk for about 70 mins, it was not high high intensity but I sweated and enjoyed it. Last week's exercise was not good at all, I only logged one day so hoping to do much better this week. I want to start adding some serious weight training to my routine but I will have to introduce it gradually.
Weekend was ok, Mondays are back around the corner so quickly. The best thing about my weekend was babysitting and not snacking on the kids' snacks and sweets. I was very proud of myself.

Anyway, on to a great weight loss week!
Bye

Thank you, Denise! It is great to know I am on the right track, thanks. I have used my public journals as my food journals where I write down all that I have eaten and the times that I eat. Is there a dietician expert on SP who can have a look and tell me if I am doing ok or if I need to eat more of a particular food group?

Thanks
Miche

It's great that you started a community journal. Having a community journal was very helpful for me in my journey.

Let me know if there is something I can help with.

Hi,
I joined SP in April of this year but have found just another great resource from SP-this community journal. I decided today to start it to keep myself accountable and to speak of my triumphs, losses, determination etc. on this journey. Hope you all can make this journey with me.
My current weight is 174 pounds and I am looking to get to 150. I will also use this Journal to keep track of my weight, eating and exercise.
Let make this journey together!
