Hey Annaera... emoticon Go back and re-read your posts from earlier this year when you and your husband hiked up that hill---focus on those feelings about what you can do that six months ago you couldn't!! The scale is just one little measure of success--Healthy has a lot of faces.... Its frustrating I know...but just keep on doin' what you know is best for your health!!

I learned a long time ago that the day doesn't matter as much as the week. Your weight will go up and down day to day, but if you keep on track you will lose in the long run.

OP...I hear ya. Have gained 5lbs since starting bootcamp and eating 1600 cals/day. I don't get it...if you find the solution please lemmie know. Oh...and PS...it ain't muscle...I WISH I could gain 5 lbs of muscle in 8 weeks....and have GAINED inches too.

ANNAERA,

What you're experiencing is perfectly normal. It's nothing more than a temporary water weight gain. Ever notice your weight goes up during TOM ? Most women tend to "gain" weight during their menstrual cycle. Is that a fat gain ? Nope. it's nothing more than a temporary water weight gain that passes in a few days. I can gain or lose as much as 3-4 pounds in a day because of a shift in my water weight.

Also, not to get TMI, but did you have a bowel movement this morning ? Your body's waste products have weight. So, if you don't do a poop in the morning, the physical weight of all the food and water you drank since your last bowel movement is still in your body. Food has weight. Water has weight. There are many different things that can cause the scale to go up.

So, don't beat yourself up ! Remember, there is more to good health than a number that stares at us from between our toes in the morning. You didn't gain the weight overnight. It's not coming off overnight. Slow and easy really does win this race.

I'm feeling a little discouraged. I'm trying to hold on to all the little triumphs in my thread over in WooHoo, but it's hard when I got on the scale and instead of losing despite holding to both my exercise AND calorie goals as set my SP I've gained a pound. I know it could be water weight or muscle or what have you, and yes I've weighed and measured everything that has gone into my mouth. My balance of nutrients is on par with what I know I should be eating for my genetic issue as recommended by a nutritionist, but it's a bit discouraging to see a net gain for all that hard work. I haven't gotten a heck of a lot fitter yet considering I started up again recently so there are few other tangible things I can measure. Sometimes it makes me feel like saying "to hell with it."
