Even mild dehydration can stall weight loss...drink more water....

When you say eating a small amount, how much are you talking about? And what foods are you getting this extra salt from? Your body may be holding water because you have been edging toward dehydration. Even a low salt diet has 1500 grams. More data is needed.
Even if you do 't use the salt shaker, you can consume a huge amount with certain foods even if not the processed food types.

Do you ingest enough protein? Do you consume a lot of caffeine?

Everyone's weight fluctuates throughout the day.
I often hear of people gaining 2-4 pounds with a higher sodium intake day. They report hands swelling, rings feeling tight, etc. Usually weight returns to a more "normal reading" in about 3-4 days.

Now... you are reporting 4 kg, which is close to 9 pounds gained and you are reporting more discomfort with the symptoms and side effects....I encourage you to talk to your doctor.

Oh dear. You went a WHOLE YEAR without consuming salt? I do hope you were getting adequate salt from the foods you were eating if you weren't ever adding it! Your body NEEDS sodium!

Are you tracking both sodium and potassium?: They have to be in a good balance. If you are not getting enough potassium, any increase in sodium will affect you.

Hope you feel better!

A fluctuation in your water/salt levels throughout the day is totally normal, so never weigh twice in one day and rely on that as "real."

If you are having actual edema (swelling of the ankles) problems, please go see a doctor!

Hi everyone!

Ever since I lost weight, I am having a lot of problems with salt. Whenever I eat salt now, I retain water. I gained 4kg in a day just from water. It really hurts on my thighs and upper arms. How long does it take for my body to get used to a normal salt intake? I want to eat normally again, I haven't used salt more than a year and now whenever I just use a small amount, my body retains water like crazy :(
