HI,

I take a water aerobics classes to and wear my tracker on my shoe. I try to keep moving as much as possible while following the instructor. I do the arthritis class although I don't have that problem. It's just the program before the regular class. I classify them both as water aerobics. I really enjoy the programs and I track my food daily.

I have lost 25 pounds in a year and while this is not fast it is consistent and encouraging.

Best of luck and just keep moving.

Hi Sandy

Where it comes to weight loss, as ARCHIMEDESII said - it mostly comes down to Nutrition. I am in the same boat as you, physically. I have arthritis of the spine and scoliosis, so it makes exercise more difficult - added to that is fatigue, so it gets to be even harder. The bulk of my exercise is just putting my groceries and laundry away one at a time. I still managed to lose a lot of weight, and have been maintaining for 3 years. I still enter all of my food into the Nutrition Tracker to ensure that I stay there.

BTW - I lost on 1400 calories a day.

The Water Aquatics will be a huge benefit for your arthritis and muscle tone. Good luck with it and wishing you every success :-)

Thanks! I really appreciated your post. I was panicking. I just got my Spark Tracker and I am trying to keep track of what I am doing. I am handicapped so I know I don't get enough exercise but I am trying to keep track of my food and calories so I can figure out what works best for me to lose weight and get healthier. When I starting tracking my calories, I realized I was only averaging 900 calories a day so naturally I wasn't losing weight because my body thought I was starving it. I am now trying 1200 calories to see it it makes a difference. Spark People site is terrific!!!! Best wishes and GOD bless........Sandy

Hi, Sandy !

No need to panic. You can always log your aquatics class under WATER AEROBICS.

You won't find an exact match for every single class or type of fitness. So, you make the best match you can from the fitness lists.

There is no way to know exactly how many calories a person burns when exercising because there are too many variables that effect the output. Let's say the fitness section says that you burn 300 calories doing an hour of water aerobics. Some days you might only burn 250. other days you might burn 310. How do you know ? You don't. it's an estimate.

That's why you can't fret too much about how many calories you burn. Because when it comes to weight loss or even weight gain, what matters most is what you eat. Good nutrition is what takes the weight off and keeps it off. Exercise is what keeps our bodies fit.

So, enjoy your aquatics class ! Even if you aren't burning as many calories as you'd like, the exercise is still doing your body a lot of good.

I have tried different combinations of these words but I can't find any thing in exercise tracker that will work. The class is a 45 min water aquatics-Arthritis class. There is about 10 min of high cardio but rest of movements are low impact exercise but not specifically cardio. I have no idea how many calories I would burn if I tried putting it in manually. Help! Someone must have run into the same problem. What should I do????????? Best wishes and GOD bless you....Sandy
