As someone who has survived a serious health crisis that had nothing to do with weight, my perspective may be different. To me, it's about health. It's about loving my body just as it is right now, and celebrating what it's able to do for me--and seeing how much more that it can do as time goes on. It's about retaking control and broadening the possibilities.

I really agree with you on your post. Everyday for me is a new challenge and being able to keep a smile on my face and love in my heart through the journey is the biggest challenge.

Strengthening every muscle, building up my endurance and being totally flexible. It keeps my immune system in tip top condition and helps to keep my metabolism at it maximum so I can eat a vareity of great foods.

Its about all of the things you mentioned: feeling good, looking good, health, feeling strong, feeling empowered, and meeting that new somebody (the new me--the stronger, better, healthier version of myself). Each day I work out, there are different motivators but they always fall into one of the aforementioned categories.

Being able to play soccer with the kids. Going for a bike ride or a walk. Lifting heavy weights. Being strong.

weight lifting means I am getting stronger......Like that...! cardio means my heart and lungs are getting a good workout........like that...! It's all good.

Having a medical background, fitness for me is being able to do ADL (activities of daily living) easily and comfortably with enough extra strength and stamina to handle any extra demands without undo effort or pain or injury.

Feeling good and looking good are added bonuses that are part of the package..
