I take Vitamin D for my osteoporosis. I really, really home these aches and pains in my bones will go away soon! I'm on dialysis, which entails lots of complications, among them, itchy skin and osteoporosis! (it's a long story!)

My husband takes 2000 a day because he has no immune system due to a liver transplant and the anti rejection meds make his bones soft............weight loss is not what it's good for, which quack is lying about that now?? I swear, there should be law suits about the lies spread about what stuff will do or not.

Not for weight loss, but my oncologist recommended that I take 1000 IU of D3 twice per day to help my bones. I have stage IV breast cancer that has spread to my bones.

I also take 2000iu a day, but not for weight loss-I haven't been sick except for the occasional sniffles for the past 3 years I've been taking it. There was a local hospital that did a study-they gave their employees free Vit. D supplements & the sick day call-ins were reduced by 20%. That made me curious enough to try, & I'm glad I did.
Before taking D, I would get bad colds every winter, I had bronchitis a few times, the flu once. Nowadays, I've had periods of time where literally everyone around me was sick to some degree-family, coworkers, with everything ranging from colds, bronchitis, to strep, and pneumonia-and I was fine. So either it helps, or I'm a carrier! :)
I didn't know if could help with weight loss. I take it in case of not enough sun.

I've been prescribed Vitamin D by my doctor. I take it every day. Can't say that I've noticed a change in weight.

Yes I take vit.D supplement. One can only get it "from the sun" if the sun is shining on them. Here in the Pacific North"wet" the gray skies & rain keep the sun covered up, so no benefit to me about 6 months out of the year.
No, I don't specifically take vit.D for weight loss.

I take vitamin d because my doctor prescribed it. I haven't noticed any difference in my weight loss.
Your body only needs a certain amount, which most people can easily absorb from being out in the sun for just a few minutes. If you supplement and don't need it, your body will just get rid of it through your urine. I have never heard of it helping with weight loss. I lost weight through regular exercise, eating healthier and tracking my calories. As soon as I was honest with what I was actually eating and sticking with a calorie range, the pounds just came off. You don't need a supplement. It's better to lose weight by making permanent changes in your lifestyle instead of relying on a pill.

My vitamin D I get in the natural sun itself, no pills..I make sure I spend 2-4hrs in the sun and that is easily done by spending time in my yard and garden... Otherwise I work outside on my deck.
I do not wear sunscreen at all because it blocks the important UVB rays that it takes from the Vit. D.. until I find one that blocks just the one ray, I will buy it LOL
I would never take pills just to make up for it either. All the vitamins in the world we need are all natural in foods or by nature itself :-)) Enjoy

Studies of Vitamin D supplements are so mixed, I just stay away from them. I try to take a more natural approach to Vitamin D. I try to get plenty of sun and eat foods rich in Vitamin D Calcium. Doing this I feel gives me a broader spectrum of the substance.
