Did my last PFT in 1988. Scored over 250 every year for 6 years. Doubt I'd even break 200 today.

I thank God I was in the Navy and could do the swim instead of the run. The USMC PFT is too damn hard. I guess that's why their Marines.

I'm going to give it a shot this Saturday. I have too many workouts scheduled this week that will conflict with it. I'd rather have a day of rest in between before testing myself.

Well, I did it (see score in first post). Now you do it and we'll get some camaraderie going.

This is a cool idea.

It would be even better if it could be done with others (get some camaraderie going).

I think the only difference is it's 100 situps now. I also remember reading that anything above 280 points got some sort of special recognition. Sounds like you're in an elite category. Well done.

I was in the Corps 1977 to 1988. Way back then a PFT was:
20 Pullups (No time limit)
80 Situps (In under 2 minutes)
3 mile run (In 18 minutes, you lost 1 point for every 10 seconds over 18 minutes)
Each event was worth 100 points for a Max of 300 points.
My personal best was 298
20 pullups, 80 situps in under 2 minutes and I ran 3 miles in 18:17
Ofcourse that was over 25 years ago (lol)

Our idea originally was to find a park with a track and some monkey bars. We found the track, but the monkey bars were wet, so we ended up going back to my house. Point being, you can probably find something to hang on/pull up in a public park.

that sounds pretty cool - I don't have anything to do pullups on or the flex arm hang... otherwise I'm into it.

A friend of mine who does the fitness thing (we do our own thing, we're not fitness buddies or anything) mentioned that he was doing this test. He wants to do it every 6 weeks as a barometer for his overall fitness. It's not necessarily my barometer of choice, but he asked me if I'd like to join him and I did.

I scored a 175. If anyone else does it, post your numbers. It could be a fun little competition thing perhaps.
