You also need to consider your calorie deficit (basically calories out minus calories in). It's really not healthy to have more than a 1000 calorie deficit each day as doing so can actually reverse your metabolism. Sadly that's what you are doing when you eat fewer than the recommended amount of daily calories - and that's what leads to starvation mode.
It's hard to get out of starvation mode. Trust me! I think I'm nearly half way out of it myself.
If you're eating below the recommended bottom of your range, your body likely isn't getting enough fuel and is clinging to the fat because it's "afraid" of starving. It is about calories in v. calories out, but it's not quite that cut and dry. You need calories to fuel your body, so if you're not getting enough, your body doesn't want to let go of the fuel stores you have. You are also morely likely to lose from muscle this way.

How long have you been doing this? When I had lost 20 lbs two years ago, the results were immediate. However this time around, after having a baby and my body going through a lot of changes, it took over a week for me to see any weight loss at all. Now that I am seeing it, it's a lot slower than it was two years ago but I'm remaining positive.

I don't understand, I stay below my caloric intake daily and yet I am not losing or losing at a slower rate than I would like. Am I not taking in the right amount or the right kind? Do i need to add more exercise??? What can I do to see the results that I want. I thought that it was about controlling the amount of calories that I am taking in but as I research I am finding that is not the case. :(
