When you can lift heavier weights! When you take a deep breath and it's bigger and deeper than you used to breathe! When joints that used to hurt don't hurt any more! When people do that quick double-take when they haven't seen you for a while. When you have to take your pants in or wear a belt!

When it shows on more than just the scale. Inches are lost. Pants are falling to your hips. And others are noticing something about you! What a great feeling!

When you're street route started off at 45 minute walk...then a 30 minute walk... now a 22 minute jog.

When there used to be physical pain during exercise half way through... now no bad pains, only the good ones you feel after exercising. (Stretching before and after changed all that.)

Last but not least,

When you do a kip up to get out of bed as you just awake up. *Ninja Style* ( -_- ) ~

I'm inspired by so many of our posters here...I'm making progress when I track my food and THEN figure if I have any calories left for a 'treat'...

-When you can do a plank or a series of plyometric jumps when you could not before.

-When you jet back from the other side of the office without having to catch your breath before speaking again.

-When people in the office are trying to sabotage your efforts.

-When friends and family go out of their way to let you know they've noticed the difference. I kept my efforts to myself for as long as I could... my own little top secret mission.

ErikaDawn, that's so true! Eventually the scale becomes less/less of a focus as a more active lifestyle and healthy habits take over...
the more we move, the more likely the scale will, too-in a 'downward' direction!!!

walking the dog
knowing that all that yard work you do is actually burning calories
realizing that not taking the train around the zoo, but rather walking it can be fun!

77PINKLADY---I love your message: If your goal doesn't scare you, it's not big enough! That is so wonderful! Did you make that up? You must be brilliant! I love that. Thanks for that! I also read another i liked: DARE TO DREAM BIG AND RISK FAILURE. Sometimes i think failure is the greatest lesson in my life. I have had plenty of it! It was food for thought. Now I am 61 and ready for some calculated, planned, well-executed success.
