I have had a tubal ligation for around a decade now. No problems yet. My cycles are still regular and my migraines still hit me as expected at my usual hormonal trigger points but no worse than before the tubal and much better than on some birth controls that made the migraines awful. I'm so glad not to need to take hormonal birth control or worry about if this month it will fail (I have two oops kids so I could never really trust it).

I had Essure done a few months after my youngest was born. That was 4 years ago. I haven't had any negative side effects and it's clearly been effective. I was prescribed pain meds for after care, but didn't need them at all. Best of luck to you!
You probably need to talk to your GYN about all the options. I don't know anything except one "horror" story about sterilizations (it wasn't a truly terrible, it just didn't work. That one with the failure of it is the only person I know who has had one, but the odds very, very small that you would get pregnant after the procedure). There are non-hormonal methods and fully reversible BC methods out there- a copper IUD is one that comes to mind. It has no hormones so is not associated with the same risks as hormonal methods. It is statistically almost as effective as the surgery, but without the surgery/recovery/etc. Both kinds of IUD (copper and hormone) have lower failure rates than the pill or patches.
I'm not married. I was almost s teen mom. I was pregnant my entire senior year. It was by my first partner and I didn't want to force something that wasn't really working just for the baby. He took off and I'm a single mom of a son with Asperger's.
Birth control doesn't work for me. I gain weight, get sick, and depressed.
I said 10 years ago I was done and I still mean it. Everyone says I still might meet someone but I am not feeling it. I don't want over 10 years between my kids.
I have been thinking and praying on this for many years. My concern right now is getting the right procedure done. And hopefully I don't gain weight.

I personally think the least your husband can do is get the big v, since the female is the one who has to ruin her body with pregnancy and go through childbirth.
I have been looking into sterilization. I have been researching it and see all sorts of stories but I'm getting mixed feelings. I love the thought of the Essure, but saw way too many reviews claiming weight gain and migraines. I already have issues with both. I gained 30 pounds on Depo. Before that about 20 on the patch. I only gained 30 pounds with my pregnancy and lost it all asap. I was lucky. Even with the lowest dose of bc I gain and get sick. I'm done having kids. But I am not sure what procedure. I didn't think weight gain would be an issue because its not a hormone procedure. I am struggling with weight loss. And I can't afford to miss much work. I'm not sure where else to post this, hopefully y'all can help through your experience.
