well, i didn't see the sandwich you ate. but 1 cup of mushroom topping on the roll that i am thinking you mean seems like way more topping than could actually be on there. a 4oz bella cap sounds reasonable. but large volumes of other loose mushrooms tend to not stay on sandwiches and would especially be difficult as a topping on another slippery piece of shroom. when i tend to get mushroom as a topping i find it's a little closer to 1/3 cup [somewhere in the 1/4 to 1/2 range]. i think a cup would work on a 6-8 in sub type bread, but there just isn't room for it on a smaller piece of bread. the other thing that seems off might be the swiss if it really was just a thin little layer of cheese, just like the slices you buy at the store, then it probably was an ounce. but if it's a thicker type layer, you may be looking at closer to 2oz, particularly if it really was keeping a cup of mushrooms on the sandwich.

Sandwich Rolls, Whole White, Pepperidge Farm, 1 roll, 1 serving
CHEESE - Swiss Cheese ( Jewel), 1 oz
Carmelized Onion,
portabello mushrooms, grilled (1 cup-4.3 oz), 1 serving
Mushroom - Portabella Grilled 4.3 oz, 1 serving
Perkins Applewood Smoked Bacon (4 slices), 1 serving

I agree with Slasalle, I break things down like a fraction. A general rule of thumb that I like to follow is rounding up. If I feel like a sandwich had 2.5 - 3 tablespoons of Mayo, I will put in 3.5 just to be sure. :)

These are tough ones for everybody; no apologies necessary!!!!

What I do is try to break it all down. So I would individually input and estimate as best I could each item in the dish. Don't forget things like this - if you're eating caramelized onions, it took oil to caramelize them!!! So I would individually enter mushrooms (including the portabello), onions, swiss cheese, bacon, the roll.

Sometimes this is the best you can do. Good luck!

Hi,

I apologize in advance because I am sure that the question I'm about to ask has been asked and answered many times already.

I know that there are many databases online, including for example at SparkPeople, that show the nutrition content of restaurant foods, especially for more famous or chain restaurants. However, my problem is that I am not sure about, or overwhelmed by, trying to properly record meals eaten at smaller or local places in my nutrition tracker. For example, last night I had a meal with the following description (from the menu, http://www.smoked422.com/#!menu/cfpj):

"Shroom
Grilled mushrooms and caramelized onions with Swiss cheese and cherry smoked bacon."

The Shroom sandwich has 3 options for the "meat" that goes with the toppings described - chicken, burger, or portabello mushroom; I chose the portabello. The sandwich is served on a roll or I guess a white bun which seemed to have some kind of glaze.I don't know for sure. I also don't know for sure how many slices of bacon or ounces of cheese because it was melted. I just want to enter this in my nutrition tracker to keep myself accurate and honest and I want to know if this is a healthy choice to make in the future.

Please help me - how should I enter this, how do I figure it out?
