I recommend reading through the Getting Started Guide at this link: www.sparkpeople.com/myspark/get_started.as

Since you now what your triggers are, I would suggest you join one of the Gastric Bypass Teams that we have here on the site. I know there is tons of advice they have for anyone. A great friend is a member and she is now dealing with the whole loose skin issue. But be brave, and remember that working on your inside hels with the outside stressors as well. Good luck!

So welcome and enjoy! If you have questions, you can always reach out and send me a SparkMail, or stop by my SparkPage at the link below. We can do this together, with encouragement and support from others, and SparkPeople has really great resources for any kind of workout or condition!

Welcome, Welcome, Welcome, and Enjoy!

I need to lose weight, but not sure if this is where I need/want to be or what plan, if any, i will follow. So, I'd like to share my story and get your opinion.
I just turned 60 and am unemployed for the 2nd time in a year due to RIF's (reduction in force or restructuring where your position is eliminated). The last one, in Jan, was a huge shock. I am a stress eater and have been pigging out on carbs big time along with doing things I should not be doing, such as drinking when I eat.
Here is the rest of the story: I had gastric bypass in Nov, 2003 and lost close to 80#. Because of that, I am supposed to be supplementing with lots of vitamins, etc, eating protein first, drinking water or flavored water, and waiting 30 min before and after eating. I fell into old habits a while ago and have regained 40# in about the last 4 years. I have attempted to take it off, successful in small chunks, only to fall back into those old habits.
Given that information, do you feel I am where I should be for help? I am not sure I can handle this or afford thison unemployment AND try to find a job at the same time, but yet I can't keep doing what I am doing.
