Thank you for the new things to try for migraines Sunshine! I wonder if the calming agent in turkey that causes us to feel drowsy after Thanksgiving dinner (L-Tryptophan?) might be having some good effect.
My migraines are not as bad as many sufferers, but the thing that helped me the most was to keep a migraine log. For me, it showed that my migraines were related to the times of the month my body fluctuated hormones. Since I have mostly given up caffeine, my migraines have become more manageable with over the counter meds, but they always used to start after lunch, now they can start anytime, which is wierd.
The best new treatment I have found for them is an old one BC powder, which is just asprin and caffeine, in a powder form in little wax paper envelopes. Tastes bad, but starts to work immediately, and since it doesn't have acedominiphen in it, you can take another dose later in the day if necessary. This, of course, only works on minor migraines, or early stages of less evil migraines. They can break through.
A good eight hours of sleep and reducing stress are always a good idea.
Sorry to hear about your migraines....drink lots of water as dehydration can cause them.
Many people are bothered by Aspartame and get headaches from artificial sweeteners. Drop the soda and see what happens also.....I personally stopped all soda 3 years ago...for me I might have Trader Joe's Unsweetened Kettle Brewed black tea, lemon water, and lots of plain water. I also make Iced Green Tea.
Improper nutrition, insulin resistance,Pre-Diabetes and diabetes can also cause severe headaches. Fluctuating blood sugar can cause headaches and so can inflammation. I use the spice rosemary in most of my cooking as it helps prevent or lessen headaches and balances my blood sugar.
I tamed mine by eating turkey, tuna and adding sesame seeds to salads and veggies daily to reduce the headaches... the sesame seeds have magnesium to help headaches....Try a bowl of whole grain fortified cereal with fat free milk, mushrooms, broccoli, and spinach.
Also did you know that Olive Oil can reduce the severity of headaches....have a small vinegar and oil salad daily... also foods with magnesium will help which include..... spinach, sweet potatoes, white potatoes, Swiss chard, quinoa, sunflower seeds, brown rice.
It is actually harder to maintain a weight loss, than lose the weight.
You must continue to weigh weekly. Slowly add a few calories (50-100) each week, over the next several weeks---do determine your maintenance calorie range. Continue to weigh portions, monitor food intake, track Continue with your exercise and stay active Continue with fruits/veggies, meeting protein and fiber needs Continue to keep your environment filled with those healthier foods to push out those higher calorie ones. etc etc

If you haven't already, read the SparkPeople articles about migraines. They have some good information. And not to sound like a walking bulletin board for SparkPeople but try SparkCoach. I use it - and they have a great maintenance plan. Its a nice way to say "thank you" for having a free site. If you haven't tried it for free yet, do so.

Hi guys I reached my goal actually surpassed it by a pound was wondering if anyone had suggestions to keep the weight off also if anyone used to drink soda how do you quit for good I get bad migraines but I'm tired of it.
