It gets better! Now been addicted to the hamster cage for 2+ months, and have cut my time down to 30 minutes for 3 miles. I do outside work when it is warm and try to hit the treadmill about 3 times a week.

Hello fellow treadmillers! I am new to this site and am glad to find others who love (or at least grudgingly use) the treadmill. Walking is the only exercise I have been able to stick with over the years, probably because I can turn on my iPod and do it while my mind wanders elsewhere. I am 52 and need to lose at least 50 pounds (*again* -- but that's another story), so I hope to use some combination of increased distance/speed/incline on the treadmill to help get me there. My current workout is 55 minutes (just over 3 miles), with 5 minutes of warm up and cool down on each end, and 45 minutes @ 3.5 mph in the middle, with 5 minutes each at inclines 1-9%. I aim to do this 5 days/week, but if I get in 3 or 4 days then I am still OK with it. So... that's my story. Looking forward to some interaction with others who also like to (literally) walk their talk.... ;)

Did the usual 30+ min. of intervals on my favorite, the treadmill. Hills are oddly less harsh on these old knees than a 0 incline. 2-3 days of strength training and 5-7 the treadmill...feels pretty good!

Did 2.75 miles today in 32 minutes. Whee! I would not have pushed it so hard but I felt like my running buddies were watching me! (Or at least I knew that I would have to post)
Thanks!

So I have walked a mile Wednesday, Thursday and Friday I did it in 24 minutes...which is a big plus for me. Today I am going to bump up the speed just a little bit!

I am also looking at the 28 DVD on Boot Camp. This all so new and it seems like all I do is read read read...but hopefully I will get it under my belt.

I workout on the treadmill 5 days/week. I am training for a 1/2 marathon, and use the incline and my goal time. I am a rare one who loves the treadmill. I do it at the gym on weekdays and at home on Saturdays. I usually take Friday and Sunday off because I put so many miles on when I workout Saturdays (6-10 miles). I listen to audio books at the gym and watch tv on Saturdays. Have fun with your workout!

Lisa- just work up gradually and you will get there. A year ago I had not ran for 20 years. Main thing is just not to give up. emoticon

3 miles on the hill interval setting. DH & I are going to hike the Grand Canyon in the fall and I am adding hills to my workouts a couple times a week. Depending on the energy I have each day will determine what I do - some day's I feel like running and other's I go at a slower pace and do hills.

I'm in, did 4 miles today but my ankles feel it! Usually only do 2 at a time.
Its funny, when I exercise I have the self control not to raid the pantry. Otherwise, the night is a killer for my diet.

I do not need to lose any pounds but I use my treadmill every day to keep me out of a wheel chair

Hi my name is Lisa and I need to lose about 45 pounds. I hate to exercise but I know food alone isn't going to get it done. So I would like to have a friend! Anyone interested please let me know!!!
