Thank you, Dragonchilde. I knew that regular strength training didn't burn a lot of calories but since P90X keeps me in my target heart rate zone the entire time I'm doing it I was pretty sure I needed to count it as strength and cardio, but didn't know where to begin.

But problem is solved - they actually have a personal calorie burn calculator for each of the different workouts, on their site: p90xcalories.com/ for anyone else who may be using their workouts for all or part of their physical activity. Thanks again!

Keep moving!

Strength training simply doesn't burn a lot of calories. It's tough, but the benefits are not really in direct calorie burn. It's not cardio exercise, so doesn't burn calories like it. However, what it DOES do is provide less tangible support, like boosts to your metabolism, and increased calorie burn for a while afterwards (called afterburn.) There's no way to measure this, so you get to count t hem as bonus calories.

So yes, while it DOES leave you panting, sweating, and sore... it isn't cardio, and shouldn't be tracked as such. :)

I use P90X dvd's for some of my strength training and I'm dying by the end of them, but when I went to track it on my SP tracker the way I thought it should be it showed me burning about 33 calories, LOL! I'm pretty sure it's a few more than that.

So my question is: does anyone else here use P90X (in this case Chest & Back) and if so, how do you track it in your tracker?

Any help is greatly appreciated! :D
