Hi Annamolly, there is totally an adjustment period !!! I was vegan for years and when I started eating meat again, I felt soooo heavy and bloated. When I started going more vegetarian again I was so gassy ..... but after a short time the body adjusts to whatever we throw at it lol
I've been traveling for a year. I went from being a vegan.. to slowly incorporating animals products back into my diet because it was ridiculously challenging in some countries. So i'm home, and im eating a load of veg since im back on a pretty strict veggie diet. Is there say.. an adjustment period sometimes with these things because I am so gassy.. which is not a problem I had before.
I eat 10-15 servings of fruit and veggies most days. I love it and my body does great with it. If ever get looser stools I just exchange some of the fruit or veggies for grain, like rice or oats, corn, whatever and I'm fine. It's good for you, just keep listening to your body.

RE: your smoothie recipe, I tend to treat my smoothies as a mini-meal rather than just a drink, so I always add some source of protein. Usually 1/2 cup of fat free greek yogurt and 1 tbsp of chia/flax seeds. It adds some calories, but helps me stay full longer. Also, a "serving" of banana is half of a medium banana, and they are higher in sugar and calories than many fruits. You could omit the banana, or use a smaller piece if you like the flavor. I find that more than 1/4 of a banana overpowers the other flavors.

Nah, I doubt that's a problem. Berries are generally considered to be the "best" of the fruits, because they're low-cal, high-nutrient. I don't think you should be worried at all.

I do a big green smoothie almost every day, and also eat a ton of produce throughout the day. We eat mostly vegetarian, so my diet is very heavy in fruits/veg along with beans, rice, nuts, and a few whole grains. I don't think there's anything wrong with getting 10+ servings of fruits/veg a day. I do have to be mindful of choosing more veg than fruit for snacks, because the sugars do add up quickly. It's easier for me to choose veg at mealtimes.
Keep in mind that fruits especially can have a good amount of calories. Depending on what fruits you're eating and what you consider a "serving" of fruit, you could be drinking several hundred calories at a time, before you even get to lunch and dinner! They will certainly be healthy calories, but it is absolutely possible to gain weight on nothing but healthy calories, if you're taking in more than you need. The only reason I mention this is because a lot of people (myself included at one time) think that if a food is healthy, you can eat as much of it as you want and that you only have to count "bad" calories - but those "good" ones count too! If a smoothie fits in to your calorie range and you're able to get the proper balance of nutrients, by all means go for it.
You mentioned another issue, that you may be taking in a very high level of fiber and your body may...not take kindly to it. It's all about finding balance.

I don't think it would be a problem. If it were up to me, I'd probably eat more fruit than veggies. I guess I'd be concerned about how or if it would change your bowel movements. Maybe try it out and if it changes too much, in either direction, then make adjustments.

Yes and no.
Get too many carrots, you can turn orange. ;)
But realistically, a glass of blended fruit isn't quite the same, and a serving is very small. You really, really have to overdose, and honestly, when was the last time you heard of someone landing in the ER for too much broccoli?
One smoothie for breakfast combined with regular meals and snacks isn't going to put you in any risk. Enjoy your yummies, just make sure you're accurately counting your calories. SMoothies generally have more than just veggies and fruit in them, so they can be calorie bombs if you're not careful!
Fruits are the things to watch out for; while they ARE healthy, they can be calorie-dense depending on the fruit, so you can overeat on them if you're not careful.
I've been wanting to start making green smoothies for breakfast each day. They taste delicious, and it's an easy way to get upwards of 5 servings of fresh produce into my diet in just one glass. The thing is, I also consume fruits and veggies along with my meals and snacks each day. Is this a problem? Can consuming such a high amount of fruits and veggies have any adverse effects? Other than the effects on bowel movements.
