Definitely snack, but mindfully. I plan them in. I'm having one right now, in fact. I eat breakfast about 6:15-6:30 and then have a snack (usually natural oatmeal with natural peanut butter or Greek Yogurt with oats and honey or granola). Lunch is typically between 12 and 1, and I have a small snack around 3-3:30. When I get home from work, I will have a banana before taking my dog for a long walk and/or working out. Then dinner around 7:30.

Motivation will get you to the start line; discipline will get you to the finish.

Starting Weight: 264 (didn't get there overnight)
Current Weight 129.4 (didn't get here overnight)

I always snack. If I don't snack, I just eat and eat and eat at my next meal. I snack on something between 11am and noon, and then I have lunch between 1pm and 2:30pm. My commute to and from work is 40 minutes, so I snack on baby carrots and peppers on my drive home so that I'm not ravenous by the time I get home at 7pm.

I definitely have to have snacks.

I usually eat my snacks 2-3 hrs after my meals (sometimes sooner depending on my hunger), excluding dinner. I generally don't eat after dinner unless I'm up late and my tummy starts growling.

By far Snack.

I eat something about every 2-3 hours in a day. It is a pain in the butt because I feel I am always thinking about when my next meal is and what I am going to eat, but, everything that I have read and learned through my weight management classes eating the snacks are key to keeping your metabolism up and running without the slow down periods between the traditional three large meals.

Snacking is good for a person as it keeps your blood sugars level and in essence steadily fuels your body to reduce your hearts workload during digestion. If you wait more than 4 hours to snack your energy levels drop. Maybe every 3 hours would be good.

Have a hard boiled egg...Eggs Are Loaded with Nutrients & lots of vitamins about 74 Calories
1/2 cup Cottage Cheese and a handful of Matchstick carrots, flaxseeds around 75 calories
An Orange, Apple, Avocado Slices, 3 graham Crackers, 3 cups of air popped popcorn which is also loaded with vitamins and minerals, Pear and 1 ounce of light Brie about 120 Calories.
String cheese and 10 Almonds or 4 walnuts, Carrots with 2 TBLS of Ranch Dressing

My snacks are pretty close to being meals. I eat every 2-3 hours. My snacks are around 200-300 cals and my meals are around 300-400 cals so they're pretty close. I couldn't go 4-5 hours between eating and I don't like that "stuffed and bloated" feeling from eating too much food at one sitting. Plus, I love variety. I can eat 5 different meals in a single day.

My snacks are usually at around noon and 5pm. Most people's lunch and dinner. I have lunch at 3pm and dinner at 8pm.

SNACK! Definitely snack. I need to eat every 3-4 hours or I am starving. The times that I eat my snack varies based on my schedule, but on a normal weekday, I eat a snack between breakfast and lunch, and another between lunch and dinner.

Today's snacks:
- turkey sausage bites and triscuits
- 1oz almonds

I ALWAYS have snacks - I literally cannot manage on just 3 meals - there is too much of a gap, and I wake during the night, starving - if I can get to sleep in the first place. As a result my meals are generally a wee bit smaller, to accommodate the snacking - usually at least two and often 3 or 4.

I have 3 meals plus an extra "meal" at the end of the day that is more like a snack, a couple of hours before bed. I find that a lot of my extra calories were coming up because I get hungry every 4-5 hours, so, 4 meals worked best for me.

Usually the "fourth meal" as I call it is something like a half sandwich, or yogurt with granola... Nothing too crazy usually unless I have some calories to spare. :)

I snack about 3 times a day, depending on how hungry I am. Sometimes it's only 2. Usually between breakfast and lunch, then between lunch and dinner (only if I am REALLY hungry), then something really small before I go to bed. If I don't eat something before bedtime, I will be up at 2 am eating all the chocolate I can find and if can't find anything, I will devour the peanut butter (which isn't good for a low thyroid, so I'm screwing myself there). Once in a while I go over my calorie range but not by much and right now I am more concerned about eating healthier food than I am about staying within range. I do try though...Once I get my habits under control, then I will focus more on my range.

Sometimes the way I write can come across the wrong way. I apologize if I offend anyone. I also have a habit of writing LOOOOOOOONG posts. Again, my apologies.

I find a snack in between lunch and dinner is necessary to keep my hunger in check !! :) around 3-4pm

Do you find it easier to lose weight if you divide your calories into three square meals or if you plan snacks into your day? If you find snacks helpful, what time of day do you eat a snack?
