Hi Lynn,

If you are experiencing a fear of eating, you may want to contact your doctor for a referral to a nutritionist or professional who can help you work through your fear. Just having a professional who is trained in helping those face may be what will help you overcome this issue. Below is a link to Coach Dean's article on Recognizing Easting Disorders with references at the end on where to get help if you do not want to contact your doctor.

I hope this helps!

Lynn,

Food is NOT the enemy ! We need food for energy. We need food to nourish our bodies ! Don't look at weight loss or good health with an all or nothing mentality. If the only healthy thing you were to do today was to drink 8 glasses of water, that's still a step in the right direction. Remember, you're trying to change habits learned over a life time. That's not going to happen overnight, a week, a month or even a year. Change takes time. thus the need to be patient with yourself and your body.

In short, don't beat yourself up every time your over eat. If you do, you're going to end up miserable. Start with some simple changes. Take baby steps literally and figuratively. Don't try to do everything at once or you will end up frustrated.

What's one simple thing you can do that will help you lose weight and be more healthy inside and out ? For optimum health, eat 6-9 servings of fresh fruit and veggies. If that seems like too much, then set a goal to eat 2-3 servings each day for one week. Drink 8 glasses of water. If that seems like too much, set a goal to drink 2-4 glasses each day for one week.

Don't let all the dietary hype make you crazy. Good health is simpler than you'd think. Good health really IS as simple as eating a few extra servings of fresh fruit and veggies, taking a daily walk and drinking enough water.

Don't starve your body of the calories it needs to be health. Like I said, food should NOURISH your body !! I know this is going to sound strange, but a person has to eat in order to lose weight. Starving doesn't work. diets don't work. Common sense works.

So, do your best to increase the amount of fresh fruit and veggies you eat. Does this mean your carbs will go up ??? YUP. fresh fruit and veggies are loaded with heart healthy, body nourishing carbs.

You really don't have to do anything drastic to lose weight and be healthy. just start with a few simple changes and go from there.

The last few weeks have been rough on my wellness pattern Ė was doing pretty well with consistant exercise and portion control. But the last almost three weeks have gotten progressively worse somehow, and now Iím sitting here, after a 2-day binge, afraid to take one bite of anything for fear Iíll start the cycle over again. HELP.

Why, why, WHY canít I view food as something other than a spiteful frenemy?! My mind is going a million miles a minute through a cycle of options: Donít Eat  Ok, Eat Something SMALL  Eat Anything Thatís Not A Carb  Woman, Just Eat A Regular Meal  Whatever, You Know You Canít Handle Any Food Right Now  Just Wait  Just Go ONE Day With No Food, Youíve Eaten Plenty In the Last Few Days To Last The Whole Week  Donít Eat

And the cycle continues. Iím about to burst. I canít handle this, Iím afraid to eat and Iím afraid not to eat. ARGGGGHHHH.
