Way to go! Keep up the work of walking every day, with or withour your grandchild or your daughter. Meningitis and having 2 congenital heart defects is bad already! Keep on going! I am a 59 year old male ...married to a beautiful wife of 58 ...have lost 60 lbs. in a stroke 10 years ago ...want to lose 10 lbs. more and see how it feels ...maybe I will keep it off. Have lost 3 lbs. this time. Want to lose 7 more lbs.

Congrats on your weight loss and continued improvement of your health!!
My daughter had meningitis 3 years ago and it was a horrible experience. I feel your pain and happy that you recovered. I guess it was a mixed blessing to get sick because they were able to find the problems with your heart.

This time last year I was in a hospital bed quarantined with Meningitis. It was at that time they discovered that I had 2 congenital heart defects (which were being agitated by the meningitis). For the last year I have been recovering and unfortunately gaining some weight. I didn't have the energy to do any of the normal activities that I used to do. Even walking short distances would make me winded.
I joined SparkPeople to get things under control. My weight had reached the danger BMI zone and of course that wasn't going to help my heart. I have been eating well and exercising and participating in what SparkPeople has to offer.
Yesterday evening I walked one mile (3 hefty hills) in 20 minutes with my daughter and grandson and I wasn't even winded!
It was the biggest accomplishment for me because it means that I am mending!
Thank you to everyone involved with SparkPeople!!!!!! I couldn't have done it without you!
