WELCOME TO SPARK!!! Congrats on taking the first step into changing your life to a more healthier one by joining the site. Spark is filled with amazing people that will motivate, support and encourage you on your journey. There is so much to learn and discover here, take this one day at a time.
A couple of things I would like to suggestion to make you Spark experience a great one.
1. Put together your own Spark page. This is a great way to communicate with other members and build relationships that will support and motivate you. You can do this by going to the START page and the green section has something about your Sparkpage.
2. Make goals for yourself. Each month I make a list of what I want to accomplish that month and break them down to smaller goals to work with week by week. This way the BIG picture doesn't seem so big.
3. Join Spark teams. There are tons of teams here and you will be able to find ones that fit to what you like or want in a team.
The key to success here is to be active and you've already started by joining. You will find that everyone is willing to help you out if you need it. Hi - I'd love to know more about the event you and your father will be attending. I don't know what it is, but glad it got you motivated. You will love Spark - all the tools and support you need. You just need to jump in and use them.
I would suggest getting a Sparkpage set up so that folks can interact with you there. It can be very anoymus, you don't need to use your real name or post pictures if you don't want to. Then find some teams you can enjoy - maybe a challenge team. I have lots of success with tracking my food and exercise here too. It seems very time consuming at first, but gets much easier as you use it and save some favorites and such.

Hello Maddilougirl! You have a great goal to achieve, I am so glad you came to Spark People to do it! My name is Debbie, I live in Wisconsin, about one hour south of the Green Bay Packers! I do have some suggestions, first track everything you eat and drink and all your fitness, even house work, gardening it may not all register as a caloric loss but you are moving and that is important! Second, look at Spark Teams, it will be under Community in the main tool bar above! Once you find a team that meets your needs and interests you will find so many friends that will support, encourage, and just plain be there for you! I belong to Hopeful Hearts, it is a religious but very supportive group, you need to find your group and it may be several groups! Blessings to you in your new journey to healthy living! Deb

I have been yo yoing for years....but the time has come, I have to get serious and do this once and for all!! I have been chosen by my family to accompany my 72 yr old father to the 100th anniversary of ANZAC day in Gallipoli next year. The walk to the commemorative site is about 7 kms uphill on dirt paths with a further 3 km walk to the second site after the 1st memorial service. I am proud to be the one my family chose to go as they have agreed I am the one that will train for the job. I want to lose 35 kg by April next year and be fit enough to not have to worry about me on the journey and focus on my Dad. I will keep track of how I am going.
