Hi 4purplegirl, I am a few years older and seeking similar motivation on this site. So far I have fount it one of the best and genuine sites out there and I hope it will be able to help you in the same way that I hope it will be able to help me. I shred 30kg before coming onto this site and am hoping that the motivation gained here will help me achieve in loosing the remaining 50kg I need to loose to achieve my personal goal. Thank you so much for that great welcome. I log my food into myfitnesspal.com I really like it a lot and already have it all set up. I workout and get my menu plans from Kaia fit here in my hometown. It is wonderful... I really just joined this forum to have someone to talk to about the menopause stuff and to learn from different people and maybe help others as well, with things have learned through my life time. Thank you for the advice, I will log on tomorrow and start poking around. Looking forward to a healthy and long relationship

Be sure to set up your nutrition tracker and follow the guidelines Sparkpeople gives you. It is important to eat a balanced diet with adequate calories (yes, if you don't eat enough, you will not lose weight). The website will give you a range of calories each day. Eat well while losing weight by eating within that range. Likewise, you should follow the guidelines for carbohydrates, protein, fat, water, fiber, etc.
I try to encourage new members to get active in the SparkPeople community! Join a Spark Team or two that match your interests. You will find it easy to get acquainted with folks on Spark Teams. For instance, you can select a Team of Sparkers in your city, or Sparkers who follow a particular food plan (vegetarians, low carb, etc.), Sparkers with a particular health concern, or Sparkers who share your hobbies. Another option is to set up your SparkPage and start blogging. Some folks use the Community Journals. Post a lot on the message boards, especially if you have successes or challenges. You'll soon find that you're connecting with many nice folks here.

Hello Not sure if this is the right place or not, looking for people who struggle with weight loss? I have struggled most of my life and thought I had a pretty good handle on it. Recently I noticed my pants getting tighter and tighter, headaches, joint pain, sweating at night and extreme sweating during workouts...oh yeah, and bleeding gums. I really thought something was seriously wrong. I then met a lady that informed me I was in menopause...what? I just turned 45 how could this be? I decided to check out what I was told, I have been researching these symptoms and sure enough...Menopause well at least I know everything that is happening to me is normal... I fought it as long as I could, kind of shrugged it off and now oh my, ten pounds up and bigger jeans, this makes me really sad. I have been working out and watching what I eat for about 4 good years now, and I am bigger now than I have ever been in my life... People say, "good luck" , or "get used to it" or go to the doctor and get on meds. Well I won't accept any of it!!!! I will beat this. I must lose this weight. Unfortunately, I have a food addiction. I love love love to eat, buffets are my favorite, Olive Garden, pasta and wine...yum..sweets? Yes please! Well all this must change. I cannot continue this lifestyle anymore. This extra weight is coming on so fast it's scary. I have a family history of large obese women, we have all struggled our whole lives. 9 years ago my mom died from heart disease because of her weight..I must stop this now. SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO that's the reason I'm here, hopefully I will meet others that are going through something similar, or can shed some light on letting me know if I'm heading down the right road? I plan on logging my journey for the next 6 months or so? not sure how many different forums, or discussion boards I'll have to participate in before I get this all figured out. All I know is writing and talking to others helps me stay out of the kitchen. Plus, I'd like to look back and remember where I started. okay, so that's that in a nut shell. I completed day 1 of this journey....feels good. also: I'm journaling my food, vitamins, and workouts. This will NOT beat me
