Hello All,

This is my first post and I wanted to make it about something interesting. First off I'd like to say that I love this website and all of its resources. I've already been able to love 5 lbs as a result of the tools here, but it dawned on me the other day that from a physical perspective I really didn't know where the weight went. So I did some research.

As it turned out I found that one of the major limiting factors in weight loss is actually the removal of Carbon from your body. I could get all scientific here, but the folks at this website have already done the work for me:

What's cool about this is that for every unit of energy that you burn the carbon from that unit (for the most part) will leave your body by actually breathing out the carbon in the form of CO2. This is why we have a BMR from simply breathing. This must be one of the reasons why aerobic activity is so good for us. But, most importantly, this is why losing weight is not an overnight process.

It takes a great deal of time to breath out all of that extra weight. So the next time you feel like things are going slowly, remind yourself how this process really works and be PROUD of the weight that you've lost. It is a miracle that you are literally able to breath out pounds of fat, but it is certainly not a fast process.
