Licking your finger to turn the page of the newspaper, magazine, or even a pile of papers. Ugh! Nasty! I have to read that paper or magazine later.

The person who watches me clean the entire kitchen and then walks over, makes themselves something, and doesn't bother to clean up after themselves.

What am I ... Your Slave?

All my answers, I have friends or family that do that. Except for the gum. Drives me crazy.

Ok so I am with a framily member. And I step in someone's improperly discarded gum. I scream and literally throw a conniption fit. About how much I hate and despise gum. And then no less than ten minutes later, a person that heard the fit. Offers me a stick of gum.

People that yawn without covering their mouth (it looks like a hippo)
People who see that your backing up and decide that that is the appropriate time to walk behind a car.
Men who wear tight pants and I have seen my dad in the 70s and it was not a good look back then eeeewwwwwwwww.

On the subject of gum. Throwing it on the ground instead of throwing it in the trash. I hate gum and wish that it could be banned

Chewing with mouth open. Smacking of lips even when food isn't in there. And the biggest pet peeve. Using middle finger to point or scroll on their tablet or smart phone.

Adult women who giggle. With every sentence they speak.

"Well, the cat died suddenly ..tee heee heee...and I was so upset ..tee hee ...hee and then Dad had a stroke tee...hee.heee

And these are usually the women who can't stand silence and must fill every waking minute with sound of their own voices.

Can you tell I spent part of today with her?

"Are those friends or loved ones who chew with their mouth open?"

Sadly, yes. I find it pretty upsetting because it's gross (I don't like seeing anyone's chewed up food) and I find it embarrassing (I'm embarrassed and upset for him because of how I know other people see it, including co-workers and bosses). But, he seems to just get engrossed in his food to the point where he's not thinking about table manners... I desperately wish he'd stop. I've told him/reminded him hundreds of times, to no avail. I'm not sure he actually believes that he does it or believes that it's so obvious? It's a horrible habit and it's truly a habit that seems impossible for him to break. BTW, when he sees other people doing it, he's grossed out. How can you be grossed out by something when other people do it, yet continue to do it yourself?

Everything already mentioned and people who make smacking noises with the tongue and lips while they talk because they think it makes them sound profound or thoughtful.

We play that game with chronically late relatives, too. Always tell them the time is at least 45 min. earlier, and usually it works out though.

KJ, the worst offenders are my husband and my son! My son is only 8, and I'm constantly reminding him to chew with his mouth closed. My husband, however, I fear is a lost cause. emoticon

I have decided not to contribute to this fun thread on the grounds that my idea of a fun response would end up offending people that have whatever "habit" i might cop to being irked by!

If i WERE going to play along, though, I'd say the habit of showing up late. We all have that one friend or family member, who you say "see you at 1" and they don't arrive till 1:45. Every. Time. And sure you can work around it by playing head games with the time (i.e. when you really want to meet them at 1, telling them "see you at 12:30!") but that seems so unnecessary to be chronically late...

When someone constantly interrupts you. Sometimes when she is done I say: as I was saying. Sometimes I just never finish and she doesn't seem to notice as if she was never listening in the first place or what you have to say doesn't matter. Sometimes I stop her dead and say: wait let me finish at which point she usually gives me a look like how dare you!

I love my cousin dearly, BUT ... whenever we go out, she makes it a habit of telling me to look at someone. Archie, look over there, can you believe what that woman is wearing ? Wait, don't look now. she sees us. okay, she turned away. look now.

She does this all the time. Stares at people !

I don't care what the other people at the other table are doing or look like. STOP STARING AT THEM. mind your own business. Sheesh.....

the person who offers you something to eat and keeps offering even after you have told them you don't want anything. Even if I try an approach (like "I'll take a glass of water")...they will keep pushing.

I want my son to use a cup more than once. Left to his own devices, he'd have 2 tea mugs, his water bottle and a cup of milk lined up on the table, all of them with 1/3 still in the cup. Alternately, I'd like to be paid every time I say, "stop, put that back, go rinse out the one on the table and use that."

I am talking about our friends and/or loved ones who we love or really like a LOT save for that "one" little thing they do that bother the crap outta ya!

My fiancé - she sometimes hears the content of what I'm saying in reverse.
I say to her - "Hey, I love that sweater you're wearing, it looks great on you!"
She repeats what she thinks she heard me say - "Hey that sweater looks gawd awful on your, go change it."

A close colleague of mine - tries to bust my chops in front of everybody (verbal ripping) but always seems to screw it up, lol, it's funny just to hear him try & fail.

My youngest daughter - never returns anything she borrows like tape, pens, whatever, even if I buy her own she always wants to use MINE!!!!

What say you? Is there just that one little thing that you wish your friend or loved one could just change because it irks you to no end?
