If you do plan on taking something to reheat when you're there, make sure you check w/ the host first. Usually there's a lot of stuff to be in the oven at the last minute so there may not be room for your dish.

I don't eat it but my mom swears by broccoli casserole. It's simple to throw together and I think travels pretty well!

I Love brocolli cassarole-easy to make....bagged or fresh brocolli florets, can Cambells cream of brocolli soup half can of water, gently stir until brocolli is covered, you can add sliced carrots for holiday color if you wish. bake covered until hot and bubbely. add a sprinkle of cheddar cheese or top with durkee onions. Also a nice relish tray with sliced fresh veggies. a cranberry salad/relish.

What aout roasted root veggies? You could roast until they're almost done, transport, then pop in the over for the last 10 minutes once you get there. I'm "winging" a roasted sweet potato and apple dish. I plan to just toss some cubed sweet potatoes and apples into a casserole dish with a bit of butter and roast. I'm going to toast up some pecans in a little butter in a skillet, maybe with a bit of brown sugar, then toss on at the end of baking for some crunch. I'll probably season with my pre-mixed apple pie spice and maybe add some ginger.

Does it need to be hot? I've seen some good broccoli salad recipes or you could make a nice big spinach salad with some blue cheese, nuts and dried fruit and some sort of vinagearette dressing.

Someone else beat me to the green bean casserole, so I'm supposed to make some kind of veggie.

I'm thinking sweet potato casserole, but would also welcome some suggestions for (preferably green vegetable) side dishes. I wouldn't mind a good broccoli casserole recipe, but simple, portable, and easy to make ahead and reheat are key. (Driving 2 hours to get there.)
