I have an 11-yr old male chocolate toy poodle (Chato) I've had since he was 8 weeks old. I have a 7-yr old male Yorkie (Harlee) who was a rescue. I got him when he was a year and a half. My daughter has a 7-yr old female ShihTzu (Graci) who is a rescue. She got Graci 2 yrs ago. She is currently fostering an 8-yr old male ShihTzu (Stanley) who is a tub! He's a good size! We've only had Stanley a month. Animals are great blessings!

3 cats - Izzy & Tris from a rescue association, and Mac from the SPCA. Mac is currently recovering from a racoon attack (bite to the base of his tail) and he is not happy because he can't go outside. Izzy & Tris are indoor cats all the time.

An 8 year old Black Lab/Australian Shepard mix named Hachi. He was in the shelter for 6 months because nobody wanted an older dog. He has been a great dog, but he is way too obsessed with his tennis balls!
One day at a time.

We have Bella, a 2 1/2 year old miniature Pug (can't specifically get a mini Pug, we just got lucky from the rescue facility), and Roxy, a 7 month old English Bulldog. They are both adorable and the interaction between the two is more entertaining that television. Roxy loves to go on walks, but doesn't tolerate the heat.
None now. Over the years had several AKC German Shepherds-beautiful animals and one "mutt" that my husband rescued when he was chained to a roof top for drug dealers. My husband was in law enforcement-brought him right home. We had her 17 years.

OMG Leroy Jethro Gibbs -- gotta love him!
I have a Max - part Schnauzer, part Cairn Terrier -- and all boy! I adore him and he is a faithful love and is very smart and obedient!
We also have Tiger, an old grey cat who has a tiger in his tank and that is why he so named. I did not want that one but my son begged and begged for him. You know how that goes. So now my son is gone and I am stuck with the cat and of course I love him now that he has been with us so long. He does drive me nuts though as he likes to attack your feet while you are sleeping.

We rescued a very nervous/scared little beagle/cocker spaniel mix a few years ago. He has received so much love from us that he is no longer nervous/scared, but he is a quirky little fellow and we love him so much! He is named Special Agent Leroy Jethro Gibbs, from the character on NCIS. Of course we call him Gibbs.
Years ago, our mechanic gave us a pure bred Maine Coon calico that was abandoned at his shop. She was a great mouser in her prime, but now that she is 12 years old she has retired from so much activity. She is still my favorite cat ever. She loves to "talk" to us, and had many different sounds that she makes, almost like singing.
We love our animals almost as much as we love our kids, and we would have many more, but we live in a small house and it would be too crowded to add any more pets.

our oldest is a Golden Retriever. We acquired him when his original owner realized he wasn't always going to be a cute little fur ball, and they didn't have room for a BIG dog. (that's him, sitting in my lap in my profile pic)
our second one is a black lab mix. He was abandoned at a school and we needed a playmate for the golden, because we just could not keep up with his energy
our newest one was sitting all alone at the park one morning, in need of medical attention. He ended up losing his eye, but he's about the happiest little dog I've ever seen. He's some kind of terrier mix, small (about 17 lbs)

No pets myself, but the neighbors to my right have a 10 month old Husky named Ika, who is super friendly and comes to the gate every time I'm outside for pettings. On my right, the neighbors have a beautiful black cat with a broken tail named Kiko. Super friendly too. Then the neighbors after Kiko who just moved in have a sweet beagle who they let run around the yards between the 2 duplexes. He's super sweet and gets along with Kiko and Ika. Every time I go outside, it seems he's there and comes over to say hello.
And then in the duplex next to the beagle is the cat Gizmo. Who is BEAUTIFUL, but not super friendly. He wants your attention, but he'll run if you try to pet him.
We also get the occasional deer in the front yard, and lots of birds.
With all the animals around, its okay that I can't get my own! I will be sad to leave them all when I move in a few weeks.

My husband and I have two Pugs named Odie and Csilla (a Hungarian girl's name). We also have two wonderful cats names E (the bully!) and Csaba (a Hungarian boy's name). (I lived in Hungary for a couple of years. Hence the names.)
My sisters also have dogs: a Miniature Pinscher, a Brittany Spaniel imported from Belgium, and a Great Dane named Pinky. One of my sisters has a 19 year old 3 legged cat, too.
As for wild animals, I know we have coyotes and deer in my area as well as birds including hawks and eagles, rabbits, and squirrels.
I have two beautiful house cats that I love. I live in the country and outside we have many deer, raccoons, possum, Ferrell cats, and lots of birds. I love sitting on my porch and watching my kritters.

Who are the non-humans in your life? Your pets, neighborhood "drive-bys", wildlife, whatever animals you include in your circle of important "people."
Stories? Funny moments? Pictures?
For myself, all I have at the moment is a marine aquarium. Entertaining, but not much in the way of "pets." Although, I have to say, we've got a Royal Gramma in there who comes up to the glass and watches me, turns his/her head to follow me, petitions shamelessly for feedings... I never thought fish were "aware" that way, but I evidently was wrong in that assumption! LOL
My last "real" pet was a darling Abyssinian (pic on my SparkPage) who we lost to old age a couple years ago. Another kitty is in the future, but I'm holding out until I get to my goal weight and can keep up with a babycat! haha
I also love our local wildlife, at whatever distance they will allow. We've got lots of birds here. A marvelous hawk which occasionally makes an appearance. And deer! omg We're in an urban apartment complex, but it backs up to a large mixed-growth field. There's a group of half a dozen deer which sneak through the underbrush back there at dusk. The population is isolated enough that there's mutancy going on: one is white, another has big deer-colored patches on mostly white... but they're marvelous! They used to be regulars and more evident until some unmentionable sort took some shots at them last year. Now they're exceptionally wary. I was afraid they were gone altogether... but a neighbor said she saw them a couple weeks ago. I'm so glad to know they're still out there!
So what about you? Who are the critters in YOUR life?
...the problem with people these days is they've forgotten we're really just animals ... (attributation forgotten)
