How wonderful that you were able to put your woes into perspective!

But very sad for your friend. I hope he is able to make a good recovery.
Maybe get him a T shirt from the race and tell him that he was your inspiration?

This morning I was lacking motivation. My treadmill was acting up, I still don't have a definitive answer to my weak spells. And our routine was altered when the underground power line burnt out in early April. For twenty days we've had the noise of generators in our ears. But all this was made trivial when I visited my former work place. In 1997 I met a man who knew the parts industry inside out. Though given to irritability a finer teachers you couldn't find. Now after two strokes and other debilitating maladies he is bound for a nursing home. At 63 this seems cruel. Especially since I will be 70 the middle of May and planning to enter a race in August doing what I'm good at, Speed Walking. My moments of weakness and other circumstances seemed trivial. So I came home with the parts to fix my treadmill then went full bore for over an hour. When I race it will be for all the people I know who can't and wish they could.
