That's awesome! Way to keep things in perspective. My favorite exercise/motivation quote:
"No matter how slow you go, you are still lapping everyone on the couch" Go at your own pace and be proud of accomplishments that are great for YOU!

Good job on the run! You are lucky to have a fit friend. I dont have a lot of friends but i found that most of them are jealous of progress and are derailers.

Awesome! My biggest support is my "gym rat" husband. And, if I happen to post a workout thing on Facebook or something, I'll get a few likes, but it's my other friends who workout who comment and like most often.

That is so nice! And true about the unfitter the friend, the less they want to hear it. I have one friend who is trying to lose some weight and getting healthy so we always support each other. While I have another friend who is lazy, overweight and she doesn't seem to care about her health and well being. Every time she hears me and my other friend talking about our progress and giving each other tips. She would just glare at us or look annoyed. We both learned not to talk about anything health related in front of her. We even encouraged her to join us on getting fit and healthy and she basically said no.

I agree with BUBBLEJ1 - the fitter the friend, the more encouraging! Unfit friends don't want to hear about it at all! Good for you on the 2 miles, that's great!! (And more than I ran this week too :D )

I find that my fit friends are the encouraging ones! My unfit friends are just jealous, so they never encourage me. I'm glad you have a fit friend that wants you to be fit and healthy, too!

Now that is a good friend who encourages you that way.

Also, your two miles is further than you used to go before you started running!

I was feeling a bit embarrassed, because she runs marathons and is super fit and thin... and I said, "I know it's not much, but I ran 2 miles this week. It's not that much, but it's a lot for me..." and she looked at me and said, "That's 2 miles more than I ran this week."

SO ENCOURAGING!! :)
