That is quite the goal! Good for you! Have you run before, or are you starting from scratch? Either way, the SparkPeople 5k training programs are really great to get you started on running. I'm just about to complete my second. There are also many SparkTeams for training to run other distances or just to get in touch with other people like yourself. SparkPeople is a great place to be for reaching your goals!

Good luck!

Hi! I just turned 29 yesterday and have set a goal for myself to run a half marathon by my 30th birthday a year from now. I want to start off my 30's being in the great shape! I have always struggled with my weight and have always been extremely self conscious about it. However, I feel I have matured in the last few years and have taken control of my career and financial future, am with the love of my life, and taking control of my health and fitness level is the next big ticket item I want to address. It will be a challenge but I will need help.

I have made efforts in the past to get it under control and it would stick....for a while and then I would fall off. I am fighting a family history of obesity, alcoholism, depression, diabetes, hypertension, and a host of other issues. Running a half marathon in a year is attainable I feel and I am looking forward to being a part of this community to help me reach my goals.
