You know, I'm in the same boat! Came on sp a month ago, did really well and then some really awful stuff happened and I'm struggling to get back in the groove. One question: are you very tired at the moment? I find tiredness is a major obstacle in working out and eating well.
I just celebrated my 3rd anniversary on Spark and guess what? I'm 1 1/2 lbs lighter than when I started. LOL! I lost a lot of weight, got depressed (unbeknownst to me I had a nerve being pinched in my neck and fibromyalgia and that's what got me depressed I think) and gained all I had before plus 20 and now I'm down 21 1/2 from there. So... yes, life sucks sometimes. But the race isn't won by those who sprint and collapse from exhaustion. It is won by those who do a little bit each day to improve their life and just keep adding from there. I rarely eat chips anymore and I used to eat them ALL THE TIME even for dinner!! I rarely drink pop and I used to be addicted (I'm talk 2 2-liters worth a day, at least!) so yeah, just keep going a little by little and EVENTUALLY you WILL get there :)
thanks everyone! i usually eat healthy 3 days a week with an egg and toast bfast and a turkey burger patty w/o the bun with veggies for lunch and fruit for snacks 3days a week and dinner is whatever. its usually the 4days off i have where i mess up eating cuz im out and about and its more convientent to stop somewhere(although i did go 2wks w/o eating out). i was drinking enough water but have een slacking lately. i usually only walk 30min 2-3 times a day about 3 days a week. i dont feel those r too many goals??? i want to drink plenty of water, move everyday and eat better! cutting out my fancy coffee drinks on wknds is a goal i wanna add in there too :)

You are definitely being too hard on yourself. Don't look at weight loss or good health with an all or nothing mentality. If the only healthy thing you were to do for yourself today was to drink 8 glasses of water, that's still a step in the right direction.
Perhaps the reason you give up after 2-3 weeks is because your goals are too ambitious. You may be trying to do too much at once. As a result, you're setting yourself up for failure. Instead, why not start with some simple goals first ? Example, if you're not used to eating 6-9 servings of fresh fruit and veggies, set a goal to eat 2-3 servings each day for one week. If you're not used to drinking 8 glasses of water, set a goal to drink 2-4 glasses each day for one week. If you're not used to regular exercise, set a goal to take a 30 minute walk each day for one week. Once you've achieved these goals, then you set new ones.
One small change is all it takes to change your life. Stop trying to be perfect. You don't have to be perfect to be healthy. Remember, you're trying to change habits learned over a life time. That's not going to happen overnight, a week, a month or even a year. change takes time, thus the need to be patient with yourself and your body.
So, why not start by setting some simple goals for the week ? You may find that setting smaller more achievable goals will help you get past that 2-3 week road block you've put up for yourself. make simple changes so that you don't feel like a failure later.

You may get knocked down, you may knock yourself down, but don't stay down--get right back up. That's where the success lies--perseverance.
I think you are being way too hard on yourself. Cut yourself some slack. Life throws us curve balls all the time and sometimes it's manageable and sometimes it's not. There's no reason to give up or quit just because you had a bad day, week, month etc. You have to keep trying. Also try not to overwhelm yourself with everything that should be done. For example take one week and your goal is to walk for 30 minutes everyday. And that's it! And remember those 30 minutes can be broken up through out the day. 10 here, 10 there, and another 10 and you did it!
Also remember that whatever happened yesterday can't be changed so why let it ruin today. You were off track yesterday? well you don't have to be today.
Small goals, small changes, work your way into this, and quit beating yourself up.
I can not for the life of me stay on track for more than 2-3weeks.I can eat healthy, walk 30minutes 2-3 times a day and just feel great BUT it only lasts 2 weeks! As soon as something(anything) changes in my schedule or is added to my routine I get thrown off and give up. for example, my mom got sick and was in hospital for a week and that just totally messed me up. i ate hospital food, didnt have time for a walk etc etc. Then i had to dog sit and take care of my neighbor for a week who was sick. When those things happen and i miss one day,it throws me off completely.I know "life" happens but i cant seem to adjust to one simple change in my day.Now ive been sick with a bad cough for 10days. I just started walking 10-15min in place at home while watching tv just to "get moving" but its hard and get tired after 15min and i used to do 30min 2-3times a DAY! i hate having to get my strength back after so long. I also think all these negative things like "well if im not able to workout EVERYDAY then only working out a few times a week isnt gonna do anything". or "whats 15minutes here and there gonna do?" or "if i dont see weight loss in a few weeks,it must not be working so i quit" Is this why people do weight loss hypnosis like Positive Changes??? I know not to think those things and that its ridiculous but i still think them! im frustrated because ive tried off and on for yrs and only lose a lb or 2 (of course i only try for a week or 2). i know what all you guys are gonna say AND I NEED YOU TO SAY IT lol please help me get organized for life!
