Good morning. I was diagnosed with MS in 2008. I began reading everything I could about it and started walking and eating a healthier diet. I have done well so far. 2013 didn't start out well for me - March fractured my ankle, then my mother had to be moved to assisted living and being her POA is was overwhelming, then ended up with neuropathy and an MS episode. Good news . . . I've dropped nearly 70 lbs. and walking as much as I can with the aid of my walker. Beginning PT in October to get the legs and my core back strong. Goal is to walk w/o the walker again. 4 Weeks ago I began taking Tecfidera. I am NOT a drug person but basically neuro dr told me I had to try something or be dropped as a patient. I went on the Swank MS diet message boards and found out that the side effects are that bad. it was recommended to take 3-4 baby Aspirin (reduced dose kind) and ginger root (I take 550 mg) then eat meal - then take your dosage of Tecfidera. I tried it and so far no side effects. Occasionally a little flushing but the ginger root is a wonderful thing to help with any gastro problems you maybe having. I'm back working my f/t job (Mon-Friday) and living for the weekends. Embrassing my new normal, renewed my faith in God and taking it one day at a time. Everyone have a wonderful TGIF and weekend!
