When I went to Vegas last year, I was surprised to realize that I was the only woman under 50 at the pool in a one-piece (I was 30, at the time). And I'm talking women of all shapes and sizes! I personally felt more confident in a modern/flattering one-piece than I would have swinging around in an unsupportive triangle-top bikini, getting sunburned on my pale stomach that hasn't seen the light of day since my teens! It's difficult to find fashionable one-piece suits, but it's worth the effort and I have two now that I feel a little sexy wearing.

Why can't we make skirted swimsuits cool?!? I have two from years ago that really, truly look cute. One is a one-piece and the other is actually a skirtini. A well-designed skirt bottom looks good on women of any size. There are lots of women in single-digit sizes who really would look better and definitely be more comfortable in a skirty, but now you can't even find them except in plus sizes, and usually not in the cutest fabrics. Do you think we could start a pro-skirty movement?

Uh uh! No bikini for me til I shed 60 pounds and tone my old body up -- and even then, I'm not sure.

In response to the article... I live in Greece which has a lot of beaches and yes, everyone wears a bikini, irrespective of age. You can't even find one-piece, skirted suits, or tankinis sold here. And while we all wear bikinis that doesn't mean we all love or feel comfortable with our bodies all the time. There's a lot of pressure to look really good in the bikini, and if you don't, you don't have any other options.

My swimming costume has a panel at the front that sucks it all in! It's great!

This short article provides some chuckles and food for thought on how we perceive our bodies.
