Imagine for a moment how you are going to feel if you eat the brownies. You know it will taste good in your mouth, but 20 minutes later, as your blood sugar starts to fall, you are going to feel like crap. Tired, bloated, gross.
The brownies are liars. Don't listen to them.

If I were only fighting weight, I'd probably worry less. I'm fighting the dreaded blood sugar, so I need to be more careful with the really sugary stuff. I had my own health-ier zucchini brownie that I ate with enjoyment. Our company also provides free fresh fruit as a healthier alternative. It's just the evil voices of the brownies that call to me :-)
Thanks for the words of encouragement. It really helps me to write things down.

There are two choices. You can ignore the treats in the room or you could allow yourself one small treat. I can't imagine living a life where I wasn't allowed to eat something because I was worried I'd gain weight. that's not healthy. a cookie, brownie, fries, soda, etc... CAN all be part of a healthy lifestyle as long as you are mindful of the portion.
So, if you think you too can be mindful of your portion, yes, you can have a cookie. Now if you think you're going to have a few too many ? Then maybe you should stay out of the kitchen. Out of sight. Out of mind.
I will say this, you are not a bad person if you eat a cookie and you're not a saint if you don't.
A person shouldn't associate guilt with food. that's not healthy either. I believe in what SP preaches and that is moderation and portion control.

Apparently it's birthday-day here in my office. There is a table full of sweets. I swear I hear the brownies laughing at me and calling my name. The oreo cookies and cream dip is trying to fly out of the dishes to land straight on my belly.
I'm taking the time to write here in the panic section - so I don't do exactly that. Panic. I'm ignoring the evil brownie laughs and oreos are made every day. I need to walk past where the treats are sitting - but I don't have to look.
