i also agree that applesauce is the way to go. I have been using that in numerous recipes and no one can tell.

I substitute exactly the same amount...so for 1/2 c butter I would use 1/2 c applesauce.

How much applesauce is the question??? How much applesauce instead of a half cup of butter??

I'd try applesauce first- I've always had good luck with that. I've also read that you can puree prunes and get a nice result as well.

Would anyone have any suggestions to subsitute butter in a cake recipe? I have a dairy allergy, plust it would be nice to have something healthier (though, I know it's a cake, kind of an oxymoron) just thought I'd ask...Thanks!
