You want to do what's called a "hip flexor stretch" - can be done standing up or kneeling down, and for the lower back, the cat/ cow stretch.

Below is a link to SparkPeople's Reference Guide to Stretching...at the bottom you will see many video links for some stretching routines. Remember you want to not only stretch those muscles that feel tight, but do an overall stretch to keep balance.

I am having some tightness and discomfort around my hips and lower back when I go walking and was wondering if anyone can recommend a stretch that will help. I have tried basic side bends when I feel the tightness but it doesn't really help. Any ideas are appreciated. emoticon
