I think part of the issue for new people to the SP diet plan is the emphasis on fruits and vegetables. So many people don't eat enough and when you switch, the body doesn't know how to handle all of this fiber and bulk. The fiber fills you up, but it can be a shock to the system, and all the more reason to drink all of that water.
I already take them, thanks for the info though. My case is very complicated. I have a "kink" in my intestines that makes things quite difficult, but not something they need to fix. I have now gone 3 years without an attack, but I struggle daily with constipation (which is the trigger for the diverticulitis attacks). I am on a NON laxative medication that helps too, I forget to take it sometimes. That does NOT help. :-)
I've started taking probiotic supplements daily and found they really helped me with retention and bloating. I don't know if that is compatible with your medical condition, but you could check with your doctor and perhaps give it a try to see if it would help you. It takes a few weeks for the colonies to build up and start doing their job.
You are most welcome! I was in tears this week as I too had been doing everything right and then some, only to loose a total of 2-3lbs in 3 weeks! As of last night, things regulated a bit and ta da! This morning my total loss for the 3+ weeks is closer to 6lbs! Hope your body adjusts soon and you feel better!

I feel your frustration. I've just made a return to Sparkpeople this month after a long absence. I was in the same boat for the last week or so, nothing at ALL happening. I drink TONS and TONS of water (I just don't log it) and watch everything going in. However, I just noticed (TMI WARNING) I hadn't been paying attention to what was coming OUT. I've had digestive issues for YEARS (diverticulitis caused by chronic constipation from a congenital defect in my colon). With all the changes my body had decided to hold on to things. Once it adjusted and I have had more "regular" days, the weight suddenly started dropping again. Is there any chance your schedule is irregular and possibly this could be the case? Keep fighting, I know I am a stress eater too. I've had TONS of stress lately and am TRYING to do things like pushups at my desk or something when I feel the urge to eat!

Sounding an Alarm! I have been dieting and eating healthy and exercising for 3 weeks now and I feel even fatter then before! I eat 4 servings of fruit a day, protein for lunch and A slim fast shake for a quick Meal in the am. I exercise for 30-45 min a day. What am I doing wrong? Not losing anything has caused me to feel gross and now im stress eating.
