I ate whatever I felt like and didn't track at all for the last week. It was my daughter's birthday, and between days of baking for her celebrations at school, at home, and for her birthday party on Saturday, I was running around so much I just stopped paying attention for a bit. Thankfully, I maintained my weight this week. I didn't lose, but I didn't gain either, and that's a win to me!
In the past I would have let a few days like that completely derail me and make me give up altogether. But I've learned that these things happen. There will always be holidays, birthdays, stressful times, vacations, etc. This was the first event like this I've had to confront since I restarted my journey. Now, instead of giving up, I've accepted that I had an undisciplined week and made a commitment to get my eating back to where I know it needs to be. So I am tracking again and making healthier choices for myself.
You pick yourself up, dust yourself off, accept that it happened, and keep going in the right direction for you. I will be better prepared the next time, and so will you for having gone through this.

Every second of every day is another opportunity to regain control. If 5 minutes ago you made a bad decision; make the decision that in the next 5 you will make good decisions. Don't beat yourself up, exercise is a great redeemer you can choose to work of X amount of the calories that you took in.

I know that it is hard to stay on track when you're under stress, but just remember that you are important too. If you don't take care of yourself, the stress will only increase when you feel weak and helpless. You are worth it, so take good care of yourself, and we will all be here for you!

I know what you mean! I've been on and off track so many times I'm getting dizzy. The main thing is not to beat yourself up over it - just say "Oh well", pick yourself up and keep on going. You already know what to do, or you wouldn't have had a track to be on in the first place!
One hour at a time, for one hour stay on track and as the end of the hour approaches renew your decision for another hour, in the mean time, find some fun things to do without food and food loses it's focus. Whatever you focus on becomes bigger, so focus on Life not food, forgive yourself and NEVER give up!
you've received some great advice from the other posters. This healthy lifestyle journey is not about 1 day. So leave that day behind and get back on track today. There are so many things in our lives that we can't control BUT the one thing we can control is what we put in our mouth and whether we sit around all day or move our body. Don't let what you cannot control take over what you can control. Be your own best friend and be kind to yourself. None of us are overweight because of 1 day of poor food choices.

I give all new members one piece of advice and it's this,"Don't look at good health or weight loss with an all or nothing mentality". If the only healthy thing you did for yourself today was drink 8 glasses of water, that's still a step in the right direction.
Remember, you're trying to change habits learned over a life time. That's not going to happen overnight, a week, a month or even a year. Change takes time, thus the need to be patient with yourself and your body.
In short, cut yourself some slack for being human !! One day of over eating or even one weekend of over indulging WILL NOT make or break your healthy lifestyle. If you were to eat right 5 out of 7 days this week, you'd still be doing better than the average American.
Today is but ONE day of the rest of your life!!! Try to let it go, and start a new day with a new outlook. We all have times of stress and the occasional blip with our healthy lifestyle goals, and I can assure you that so long as it isn't frequent, it won't derail your overall efforts!

I let go today of my goals and it felt terrible. I'm letting stress around me derail me. Need my positivity and sense of control back fast!
