Once your doctor clears you for exercise, check out the SEATED Videos here on Spark. But please make sure its OK with your Doc first!! As others have said---healing is the most important, and you will be glad if you do it right the first time! Good Luck for a quick recovery!! patti

As the pp have said, you need to listen to your doctor and do what he says to do or not do.
Personally, I'd go in and adjust my fitness tracker to reflect whatever the reduction in calories burned is-- if you're not supposed to do any cardio, then so be it. You'd want your calorie range to eat, to reflect your restrictions on the burn. You may be able to find some videos/ workouts that use upper body only... the muscles aren't as large so the burn's not as great. There are many people who are wheelchair bound who still manage to get cardio in.
What I hear you saying is, I have a stress fracture that's not healing, and I'm not supposed to run or jump. But I'm so focused on maintaining my loss that I want to continue running and jumping and maybe risk a complete break and perhaps surgery to repair the damage. In which case, you'd still end up needing to quit with the running and jumping for a while. Any way you look at it, you need to give it time to heal.

Now isn't the time to continue with exercising or even trying to lose weight! Now is the time to allow your body the energy to heal itself. Ensure that you eat quality food with plenty of quality protein, a good amount of calcium and lots of fresh fruit and veges. You really WON'T derail your efforts, and your body with thank you for it later!
Just remember, when your Dr clears you for exercise, just start with baby steps again - don't go hard and fast!

If your doctor told you to lay off any exercise to let your tibia heal, you're going to have to listen. you will NOT derail any of your efforts at good health or weight loss because you can't exercise. the fact is, when it comes to losing weight or even gaining it, what matters most is what we eat. Good nutrition is what takes the weight off and keeps it off. Exercise is what keeps our bodies fit and healthy. In short, you can't outrun a bad diet with exercise.
So, as long as you eat right and watch your portions you will not gain any weight while your leg heals. Take this time to really pay closer attention to your diet. And don't drastically cut your calories either. Your body needs those calories to MEND your fracture.
See, that's another problem. When you cut calories and continue to exercise, your body doesn't have enough energy to repair itself. Thus the reason to eat as healthfully as possible. Try to eat at maintenance level calories. Don't starve your body of the calories it needs to be healthy.
As far as exercise, the jumping has to stop. If your doctor gave you the okay to walk, stick to walking. And if you really want to do something intense, sit in a chair and do some upper body strength exercises. Use resistance bands or hand weights. Using heavy enough weights will get your HR up.
But once again, increasing your heart rate is not what helps a person lose weight. Watching what they eat is what does.

What a bummer! Can you see a physical therapist for an exercise program? Another idea would be swimming if you have access to a pool, or deep water aerobics. Biking might work if you live in a failrly flat area. I live in the mountains and biking up hill puts a lot of stress on my knees. Good luck and hope you heal fast!
My MRI confirmed that I have had a stress fracture in my tibia for five minutes that is not really healing. I know why! I have been carrying on the same exercise I have always been doing. I have to stop, but the thing is, I can't get my heart rate up without running or jumping. Honestly, I'm not exaggerating! I used to be able to when I was heavier, but now there is no way to get it up to cardio zone! I need suggestions fast! I don't want to gain back all this weight I have kept off for almost three years now!!! I know there is always the gym, but I can't afford to go. I have to workout at home. It has been that way for years and it's always worked out fine for me. So the suggestions will have to be limited to home, but I'm willing to listen! Thanks!
