I've been trying to do my ST before class, but on the days I don't get out the door from home in time, I didn't want to cut my ST short by attending class. Consequently, I've been missing class. Breaking it up would let me do both on the days I was more disorganized. I feel too tired after class to do a complete ST workout. I could do some, but not the whole routine.

Then why not do your ST workouts before class or after class?

I guess my worry is that they are getting too much of a rest with the class.

Remember muscles do not work in isolation, so I would not be too concerned if you had to do quads and calves and then come back and do hammies and glutes.

What about the lower body? I think that would be more difficult to split up.

Thanks for replying so quickly Coach Nancy. I'm glad you think it will be okay. I've been missing classes I enjoy.

Hi BERTA6978,

I think that would be fine. As long as you are giving at least 48 hours rest between ST working the same muscle groups. On my spin days, I will do chest/back and shoulder exercises before spinning and then come back and do biceps, triceps and abs.

I do strength training 4 days a week with split sessions. Would I be losing some of the training benefits if I interrupted an upper or lower body session to attend an aerobic class and then after, go back and finish up with my weight session? In other words, do the strength training exercises need to be continuous without interruption to get the biggest benefit?
