If your test shows you have a bacterial infection going on, that is most likely it. A lower carb diet with fruits and veggies should not cause that much distress as with a diet full of fiber from grains. In addition, chills are not usually common with extra fiber in the diet, but with a bacteria infection. Take your Dr's advice and than go from there. Since I have significantly reduced the amount of grains in my diet, my GI distress is less.

How many grams of fiber are you getting each day? Sparkpeople has the ability to track fiber. I know when I've been sick to my stomach I've eaten the BRAT diet (Bananas, Rice, Apple sauce, toast).

you need to drink a lot of water if you take fibre - it will take a while for your body to adjust and you might be windy but stick with it as it is worth it

I'm taking a stab at this and using trial and error. I think I am eating too much fiber. Any thoughts?? I am on my own low carb diet plan and I've really increased my veggie and fruit intake. Could that be the culprit??

Hi,

Not new to SP. I need help and advice. So I've had bad GI symptoms for a month now and they inlcude abdominal pains, nausea, diarrhea or soft stools and chills. After many tests I was told today that it's probably a bacterial infection that has to work it's way out. In the meantime I am feeling terrible!! The GI suggested using Align which I will try. But I need food help and suggestions. Please reply!!
