I pick them up and carry them to the outside. I smushed one once, ONCE and ONLY ONCE.

We get them where I live too, but then again, we get lots of things like scorpions, brown recluse, black widows, wolf spiders, etc. During the summer, we use a flashlight to check the floor before putting on slippers to walk around the house in the middle of the night. Every year in Arizona is a crapshoot when it comes to what types of infestations we are going to have!

They make these certain traps that I love, but I don't have any right now, so I couldn't tell you the brand. But, they are non-poisonous, little boxes that you tear apart. Inside the box, they have some type of pad with a smell that attracts bugs adhered to the top inside. On the inside bottom of the box, they have a sticky surface, that traps the pests by not letting them walk away. I've found them at ACE Hardware. Tried to find them on-line and can't find the particular brand. They come in a yellow package with about 12 traps per package. They are great if you have pets.

Other than that, they make an electric trap like this one, but I've tried these -- they use a low air suction to draw the bugs in. Never had too much luck with them, and they make a low fan-type noise.
