I've found that throughout my life my reasons for losing weight have always changed...more so, evolved. Others can relate that sometimes we're motivated by the wrong things to losing weight. Losing weight for someone you love, because your doctor makes you, shame, and embarrassment are good examples I've heard and used personally a few times each. However, recently I've come to the realization that the only person or thing that can motivate weight loss is "you". If you don't want it bad enough it won't happen. It takes practice and control to accomplish such goal! It's nice to have a support system, but for some there isn't one and so courage and strength of self is needed. This site helps with that last bit of course, but it's easy to avoid a website...
Motivation from within...it's the best thing to have.

The big goal in life is to be independant under own steam in old age.. Ask any elderly person living in a assisted living institution what it feels like to have other people helping them with every aspect of their lifes and the limitations on private life..
That should be everyones "spark" to pull finger out! You don't know what you got until it is lost forever and you can't as try as you might get it back!

Lots of reasons - to feel better, to look better, to be healthier --- the list goes on and on ---
But still searching for the missing spark to light the fire! My biggest obstacle - my involuntary thought process!
LONG RANGE: My health--Increased Energy, Increased Self-Esteem, Longevity, Disease avoidance, Weight loss
I am simply sick and tired of being sick and tired.
SHORT TERM: A Cruise this August
I want to do all my shore excursions without becoming exhausted.
Best of luck to you as you seek your own Spark.

My husband and I want to try to get pregnant in 2013 and I really want to be healthier. That is the goal I am using to get through all this hard work! :-)
Staying healthy for the future I want sparks me. Also all my great Spark Friends. I like to come to the site every day to see how people on my teams are doing. And since I'm here, I log my food, and read some articles, and I always come away in a healthier mindset.
I have been a member of sparkpeople for a little over a year now and have learned quite a lot but have not found that something that really keeps me moving or even starting toward a goal. Some people have a reason or a person that sparks them, others have a certain activity that gets them going. I feel as though I can't start the journey to the new me until I uncover my passion.
